In the past King Canvas out of Seattle has made many of the camper backs. I recommend that a local canvas worker make the canvas. The reason is that fitting to the boat is key. I have seen some remotely made canvas be inferior in fit and finish to what can be obtained locally. I have seen excellent camper backs by King Canvas, and I have seen some which I considered sub optimal. It is certainly possible that King Canvas has more than one level of finish--I don't know if that is it, or that there are more than one person doing the building of the camper back, some good, some not so good.

Do you already have a Bimini top? Do you have an awning rail on the top of the aft cabin? Is it aluminum or plastic? Do you want a zip out portion of the Bimini top to have easier boarding?

I do not have a bimini yet, just bought the boat.
The off the shelf bimini's never look like they fit just right.
I would like to have one that attaches to the back of the pilot house.
I called king Canvas and they are going to check and see if the still have the patterns for the C dory 16 angler

Dr. Bob’s mention of an entry zipper is extremely important IMO. We did not have them on or boat, and it meant either squeezing under the Bimini while at the dock, or disconnecting part of the Bimini from the cabin in order to step down into the boat.

BTW, just about everything the good Doctor says is extremely important.

Thanks for the kind words, Steve.

For the OP I would look into the various aspects of how a Bimini and side panels are constructed. One of the best places to find out about all sorts of boat canvas and the termanilogy is thru the "Sailrite Learn" videos which are available thru this link.

The best way to attach a cockpit Bimini (and camper back) is to use the awning rail screwed and sealant/adhesive secured to the back of the cabin top. This is a water tight seal,

I have also used the awning rail, to give a water tight seal on the cabin/forward flap on the cabin sides/camperback sides.
