Hi.

Looking for a 2000+ model year 22 or 25 with 4-stroke(s), trailer, front-facing co-pilot (/barber chair), and ideally also an enclosure. Prefer molded interior and non-screwed gas tank cleats, but flexible on those. No red or green hulls/interiors unless a "screaming deal", and even then would prefer blue or grey Smile

We've recently sold two smaller boats (17' Com-Pac Sun Cat and a 16' Duxbury Dory), and are looking to parlay the proceeds into a C-Dory to explore more of New England. We live in RI but are willing to travel for the right boat.

We've expanded our search from the 22 Cruiser to also a 25 Cruiser, just in case something comes up that's a 25, though we accept the price point crossover will come with certain pros/cons if a 25. Would actually prefer a better condition 22 than a huge project 25 for the same money, given a lack of available time at this stage of life, but definitely willing to do some work (just not gutting a core like Scallywag). $40k max budget, less if needing imminent repower / rebuild.

Thank you!

Dave & Ali

Dave,
You are going to really look hard for a 25 under $40,000. Most are selling in the $55,000 to $75,000 range for even a boat which needs some work. The 25's can have more hidden core issues.

In the 25's the molded interior would be a date of build after Dec. 2006; the 2007 models prior to this date were wood interiors.

As for the screws in the strip for the fuel tank hold down, it will probably be in the 2006 era.

Fortunately the years 2002 to 2006 had the highest output of any period in the C Dory history. From 2008 on the output was very low as related to ownership of the brand, and general economics.

I have never checked out the actual numbers, but my impression is that the dark blue and dark green were the most prolific colors in the 22's and 25's. The 1995 "Cruiseship 25" is the same hull, with slightly different cabin top, and main salon layout is different; with a larger dinette and head footprints. The desirable motor for a 25 is from 150 to 200 hp. Although the 130 will do well in a light boat--it struggles a bit with a heavy load.

Thank you, sir! I agree with the budget ranges (though prices are definitely coming down at last after the past few years), and "skeletons in the closet" with anything below that, but saw a very nice 25 come up at 55k this week:

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/d/concrete-2007-dory-25-cruiser/7772930452.html

and saw a $20k price drop on another 25 here on C-Brats that doesn't need too much work remaining, down to <$40k, and thought "well maybe a 25 is in play after all!". As unlikely as it is, I wanted to update the listing because someone from here messaged me off-list after my first posting (22 only) with one they were going to put up for sale, which I then went and saw. Maybe lightning would strike twice (?).

I'm hopeful to find something before winter, just in case there is a motivated seller looking to avoid winter storage costs (and because I sold both my boats this month and am going crazy!).

You can find a 25 for under 60k on occasions. And I have seen a couple for 55k that were decent enough. But a 40k boat that doesn't need a bunch of work? That is great deal where you should not be dragging your feet. I am one of those that prefer to be using the boat, rather than working on it....

Budget increased to $50k. Was thinking 2008+ or newer, but then I read what I could find on here about the "missing" years of 2008 - 2011 during the mold fights / changing hands, so I'm back to just "a good, well-maintained" boat, in blue. 22 Cruiser, Cape Cruiser, Marinaut, 25, whatever, just be good. Ideally 2006+.

Do you have the means to tow a 25? It needs a more capable tow vehicle than a 22.

At one time, I considered moving up to a 25. However, I realized that I'd also would have to get a different truck. That made the 25 more trouble than it was worth (to me, at the time).

Hello Dave in RI, well I am Harry in Oregon with a 2006 cruiser set up for fishing too. Maybe we already "spoke" However, my boat is a clean and well maintained craft see my listing for more information. It's a long way from the east coast, I am open to other offers and would be glad to put you up should you decide to take a cross country road trip. If you would rather talk you may reach me by phone:

I’m waiting to replace the car until I end up with a boat, actually. It’s a 2010 Outback onto which I’ve added 150k miles on as second owner, and will be replaced with a truck. The size and type, however, is boat dependent Smile So, 25 is in play, but I know it’ll likely need some love in my budget. I don’t “need” it, and am against the clock of two growing little boys anyways, so a 22 is my preferred boat of the two (doubly so when I can buy a smaller truck).

Harry, thank you for reaching out with a kind offer. Unfortunately your boat, although well appointed for fishing and recently repowered, is over my budget even before acquisition costs from swapping coasts.

Thanks, everyone.
