I had this in a different section, and I don't know if anyone saw it:

Good morning, long time lurker and first time poster! I have been reading the C-Brats forums off and on for years. I grew up with a 22 Cruiser that my dad had for decades, and have always loved C-Dory's.
I finally purchased one last week. My wife and I found a 16 Angler locally, with a Honda 50 and Johnson 6.
The previous owner did a great job keeping this boat in very nice shape! It's a 1991 and the main motor is a 2001. It runs great and amazes me at how fuel efficient it is even being carbureted.
We took it out twice this weekend, getting a good feel for it.
So far, we are really enjoying it!

Since I posted that last Monday, I have a few updates:
I installed a permatrim on it and took it out on Saturday. The water was glassy and the permatrim definitely gave me much more control of my bow. After I ran it, I realized that my motor was definitely too low. It sat at least an inch and a half lower than the bottom of my hull when everything was leveled out. So yesterday I raised my motor one hole which brought the plate to just barely below being level with the bottom of my boat. I am going to run it again and see how it does before I raise it any more. I am running an aluminum prop and have read on here that they will cavitate more easily than a stainless prop, so I will go one step at a time.
Really loving this little Angler!
The previous owner didn't have a tach installed, so I got my local Honda dealer to order one for me and it's supposed to be here tomorrow. I really don't want to do a whole lot more until I see what RPM's my motor is turning. Right now it's got an 11.1" Solas with a 13" pitch on it. It seems like it does good, and it sounds pretty good. I checked top speed on Saturday because it was so glassy. With just myself (250 lbs) and 12 gallons of fuel and a cooler and tools and other "stuff" that seems to accumulate, I could hit 31 when I had it trimmed right.
Anyway, thanks to all of you for all of the shared knowledge over the years that I have been binge-reading! A TON of knowledge on here!

-Ken

Welcome to the best boating forum around! And congratulations on the boat! It sounds like you are doing all the right fine-tuning. Permatrims are great. Do you have trim tabs, too? I think many of the boats have the motor mounted too deep. I significantly improved the performance of both of my C-Dories by raising the motors. Tinkering with props can become an obsession Laughing It will be interesting to see what RPM you are hitting at 31 MPH. (And Yikes! that's about as fast as I would want to go in a 16!)

Enjoy the boat and post pictures. We love pictures.

Thank you Bill!
Yes, this whole boat has become an obsession!! I am also very curious to see what RPM’s that Honda is turning. Just going by seat of the pants, with my wife and I cruising with our pup, 20-22 mph feels like a nice cruising speed. We went from Sequim to Port Townsend and back the first weekend with it and went about 50 miles that day and burned about 6 gallons.
As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I’ll get some uploaded! LOL

To get a photo album, click on "Memberlist" at the top of the page. Then send a PM to "cbadmin" asking to have an album set up.

Keep us posted on your progress.

So I had the CD16 out again last weekend. Raising the motor one hole seemed to help. I have a lot more control of trim with it now.
As far as getting the tach hooked up, it hasn't happened yet. Since I got this boat used, and it has been repowered, there is a lot to figure out with the wiring. Honestly, the wiring is all working, but it's pretty messy. The control box has 6 wires coming out that are connected to nothing, and the tach (Honda) has 5 wires coming out. It's not obvious to me which ones would plug into what because only some of the wires are colored the same. I don't want to just start plugging things in and hope for the best, LOL. I'd like to find a wiring diagram for the controller before I start this project.
I'd love to post some pictures of my new(to me) pride and joy, but I'm still waiting to have an album set up.

Surprised to hear you haven't been given an album yet. That's unusual. Did you get any response at all from your request? I know there's a lot going on with upgrading/migrating the website, so maybe the guys are just pinned down with other stuff. If you haven't heard anything yet, I would suggest sending individual emails and pms to the second two listings on the Memberlist (Tyboo and Da Nag). They are fantastic guys who have made this site what is is - the best!

Can't help you with the wiring puzzles - I could say it's because I was a Yamaha guy, but I'm really just not qualified Laughing I'll bet once you can post some pictures you will hear from people who, unlike me, know what they're talking about.

Last week after your post, I sent a PM to them. I noticed this morning that it didn't even show up in my "sent" folder, so I tried an email today. Hopefully that one gets through. I definitely understand people being busy, and I am not complaining at all.
But I am looking forward to getting some pictures posted of my new-to-me pride and joy!

Thanks you Bill!
I can't wait to get more pictures!
The wife and I plan to get back out this weekend to do some exploring.
I think that we are going to put in at Port Townsend instead of Sequim, to save us 45 minutes on the water.
We have a few different routes planned to try out of Port Townsend. I think we will go to Marrowstone Island, Port Hadlock and possibly Port Ludlow.
I have been trying to set up some trips using the Argo Nav app and it seems to be a great tool, but we shall see!
I'll try and get some more pictures this weekend.
