Save the date ... May 08-11, 2025
The annual Friday Harbor C-Brats Get-Together, San Juan Island, Washington is on!
The Harbormaster has confirmed the inside of H-Dock and part of G-Dock for the C-Brats.

2025 Friday Harbor Signup will be available as soon as our web host administrators, Mike TyBoo or Will Da Nag make that happen for us. Mike or Will, if you are watching, please feel free to set us up to 'join the group'. Thank you and thank you for your service with this site.

To sign up for this event:
(1) Click “Event Signups” in C-Brats main menu bar (top of the main C-Brats page)
(2) Find “Friday Harbor 2025” under “Join a Group” and click 'View Information” on the right
a. If you don’t see “Friday Harbor 2025”, click the down arrow, “v”, under “Join a Group”
b. Then click “Friday Harbor 2025”
c. Then click “View Information”
(3) The “Friday Harbor 2025” Group page will be displayed, click “Join a Group” to sign up
(4) Your name will now be on the event page
(you can view this be selecting “Event Signups” -> “Friday Harbor 2025” -> “View Information”)
(5) Please PM DayBreak ASAP with additional information (see below). Like last year, we will make a sheet with this information and pass it out to all boaters attending the event.

Why do we need more information? Because …
(1) Port will assign adjacent slips (arrival / departure dates help)
(2) Ease coordination of Coast Guard Auxiliary safety inspections
(3) Create list to hand out to help identification of people and boats , which in turn facilitates in making new friends.

Please PM DayBreak the following information:
(1) Vessel Name
(2) Model & Length
(3) Captain / Co-Captain Name(s)
(4) Additional Passenger Name(s) (optional)
(5) Arrival Date (estimate OK)
(6) Departure Date (estimate OK)
(7) Safety Inspection Yes/No

Upon arrival, call to the Harbormaster on VHF Channel: 66a or call in at Phone: (360) 378-2688 and they will assign you a slip or starting February 15, you can make a reservation for a specific slip on their website. More information on this will follow.

Activities for the gathering:
• Lots of Visiting, Sharing, and Story Swapping – Thursday PM thru Sunday AM
• Dinner Out with Other C-Brats – Friday PM
• Vessel Inspection – Saturday, starting 9 AM, performed by Friday Harbor Coast Guard Auxiliary
• Boating / Travel / Local History Book Exchange – Saturday, 2 PM, Party Barge (We all have books collecting dust at home, so let’s swap and get some new dreaming material.)
• Potluck –Saturday, 5 PM, Party Barge ** bring your own plates, utensils and favorite food **
• Other activities as we have suggestions/volunteers

We look forward to seeing everyone May 08-11 in Friday Harbor!

Gary and Colleen

I'll be there with C-Traveler. Hopefully the admiral will be with me. My plans are to cruise around the South Sound for a week or so before the gathering. Then if others are heading back up to PLI, I'll do that as well. Very slight chance I could end up on the Inside Passage, but not in the plans as of now. Colby

P.s. as of 6:54pm, no signup link, yet...

Got your PM information Colby. Thanks. No hurry on the C-Brats Event Signups for now. The PM information is actually of better help to us when it comes to making the information sheet that we will hand out to everyone. The Event Signups is a good indicator for everyone to see now on those who hope to make it. Have fun in your travels exploring the South Sound. After the event, Colleen and I hope to make it to Princess Louisa Inlet at Chatterbox Falls. Below is a link of our 2019 trip and flat water doing the crossing. Hope the crossing is like that again! Had good water going both ways on that trip.

Good news from the C-Dory factory. Michael Millison and his wife Alona along with Julie Scammell will again be attending this year's gathering. Julie told me that she is "working on the t-shirts." Last year, Northwest Marine Industries (maker of C-Dory boats) brought custom made 2024 C-Brats T-Shirts for all who attended the gathering. That was very nice of them. They also handed out free C-Dory swag in the form of jackets, hats, shirts, door mats, water bottles and carrying bags. Everyone went home with something. I would expect that they will do this again. This year will be the 5th consecutive year of their attendance. Michael and Alona arrive at the start of the gathering and stay with the group all the way into Sunday. They are fun people. Everyone loves their company and the contributions they make. Michael is an amazing boat builder and shares the same passions of interest in boating that we all have. He and Alona, along with Julie, love meeting people and they enjoy seeing many of the C-Dory boats at Friday Harbor each year that the factory has built. If anyone has a question on C-Dory construction or trailers etc., Michael is the one to ask! So glad to hear that they are coming. Gary

That reminds me. We now have burgees available again. I'll have mine along for anyone to see, but no extras. They can be ordered from Kathy Wilson. See the thread here: http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?p=377013

More good news. Patrick on the boat Kim Christine will again perform boat christenings. If anyone would like to have a boat christening, christenings will again take place after the potluck on Saturday. Please PM Patrick (Salmon Fisher) or myself (DayBreak) to be put on the list to have your vessel christened. Patrick also told me, "If anyone comes forward at the gathering, of course, I will perform a christening for that party, too, since not everyone gets all the details, especially on their first gathering." Thank you Patrick for all of your contributions for the success and enjoyment of us all at the gathering.

Also, thank you Colby for all of the leg work and effort you made to once again make it possible for many to purchase a C-Brats Burgee. These burgees are a welcome addition for any C-Dory boat to advertise our boater group and to promote C-Brats in many of the C-Dory gatherings across this great Nation.

Now is the time to order your burgee. Do it today!

I received an e-mail from the Harbormaster at the Port of Friday Harbor concerning our gathering. The port will give us a discount on moorage from the standard rate of $1.90/ft to $1.65/ft. Along with this discount, the Port will also allow the discount to apply one day before the event and one day after. So, for those who want to arrive on Wednesday, May 7 and leave on Monday, May 12, the discount will also apply to those dates. I have the required reservation code for those who wish to make a reservation on-line. PM me for this code. Last year, we had 30 C-Brats member boats all in a row on the inside of H-Dock and I am hoping for the same this year. The reservation system is not yet open but should be ready for us to make a specific slip reservation starting Saturday, February 15. I hope for those slips to fill quickly. Hi Gary. Can you pm me that code. And do I understand don't call until after Valentine's Day? I will reserve for a slip, arriving on Thursday, May 7th. What day should I plan on leaving, in regards to cruising to PLI? 11th or 12th? And are there any activities planned for the 11th at Friday Harbor? Thanks. Colby

Hi Colby, I sent you the reservation code in a PM.

Yes, I have been told that we can all go to the Port of Friday Harbor website and make our reservations on February 15. That day will be an exclusive opener for us C-Brats to make an on-line slip reservation for our event week gathering. You must get the code from me to make a reservation. Using this code protects our group from outsiders taking our C-Brats slips. The Port will clear out all boats on the inside of H-Dock for our group again this year! If anyone wants to just show up for the event without a reservation, they can do so but they may be assigned a slip on G-Dock if H-Dock is filled.

Colleen and I will head out early on Sunday, May 11 for an 8 am check-in at the customs dock at Bedwell Harbour. From there, we head to Nanaimo for provisions in preparation to cross the Strait of Georgia. Final details and a closer look at the weather will follow most earnestly on Saturday, May 10 on the Party Barge (2 pm) prior to the potluck. Others are invited to follow us if they would like.

After the Saturday evening potluck, Colleen and I are usually pretty spent. Colleen and I consider our jobs to be done after the Saturday potluck and clean-up. No plans from us for the gathering on Sunday, May 11. Remember, check out is at noon on Sunday with the event being officially over. Gary and Colleen

For those who do not yet have a C-Dory/boat, we want you to feel welcome and to be a part of this C-Brats gathering. You will certainly have many C-Dory models to look at (maybe even a tour) if considering a purchase. San Juan Island is a great place to vacation for you and your family. You can arrive by ferry and have plenty of options for lodging or bring an RV and stay at the County Fairgrounds RV Park. Car, motorcycle and moped rentals are available on the island. Have dinner with us on Friday evening. We meet on H-Dock at about 5 pm and head out somewhere. Last year, we had a group of about 20 that took a nice walk into town and ate dinner at the San Juan Island Brewing Co. We had a great time sharing and getting to know one another better. Listed below are some links that you may find interesting about Friday Harbor for where to stay and what to do etc.. Definitely, stop by and see us on H-Dock and find out what the group is all about! Just a heads-up for anyone considering bringing an RV to San Juan Island - check the price for the Washington State Ferry so you aren't surprised. When we last brought a motorhome and a tow (cargo trailer) there for the season (7 years ago), the price was around $400, with extra charges for the length and height. The County Fairgrounds "camping" has 20 and 30 amp (no 50 amp) electric, water, and NO sewer. (https://www.visitsanjuans.com/account/san-juan-county-fairground-camping). You might consider putting the RV at Fidalgo Bay RV Park - a bit east of Anacortes, and walking onto the ferry. Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes has some RV spaces, but no hook-ups.

Another option is that the Swinomish Casino and Lodge now has a new Rv Park at the top of the Swinomish Channel on Padilla Bay. Look nice from what you can see driving by. There is also a boat launch on the other side of the Bridge crossing Swinomish Channel. It's located under the bridge. There is a kiosk to pay. not sure what the parking situation is but if you look on the Twin Bridges web site there may be more info there.

I forgot to mention, along with Northwest Marine Industries giving out C-Dory T-shirts, we need your T-shirt sizes. For those who attended the event last year and had PM'd your sizes, I will just use last years sizes unless your size has changed since then. For those who are new to the event, not only PM your signup information but let us know your shirt sizes so that we may have the right size for you. Thanks everyone. Gary
