I fished Neah bay from thursday evening last week until saturday night and the sekiu on sunday. Overall the fishing was quite good at neah. Thursday night we got there about 7 in the evening. Put the boat in and went right out to try for some silvers immediatly started hooking into some. But most were wild which you can not keep out there. Finally got two that were clipped and it was getting dark so we motored into the bay put the boat in it's slip, and went to sleep about 5 hours later we woke up to the alarm. 4 in the morning sure comes quick sometimes, so we started the boat and headed out to fish just off Waddah island. Nailed two kings pretty quick one went 17 the other 10 so we threw them in the box and headed out for silvers. We thought about working for some bigger kings but the word was that king fishing was very very slow and we didn't want to end up with out our kings. Got out into the shipping lanes and started hooking silvers right away. By and far the most wild fish I have ever seen out there. We had to land about 15 wild fish for every clipped fish in the box, took us most of the day to get two silvers of a size we wanted to round out our limit. And by no means was it slow, we were catching fish every couple minutes, but lost quite a few on the fight, and every one we would get back had too many fins to keep or was smallish. We must have been in a huge school of wild fish. By the end of the day we were beat, Went in and went back to sleep. About 6 hours later the alarm was going off again. I went out to meet Gary from Cbrats and we headed out. King fishing was slower on saturday. My buddy John hooked one up pretty quick but decideed to let it go in hopes of something bigger since it was only around 7 lbs. Bad choice, as it turned out to be slow for kings, he got another king that was barely legal at 24 inches but I convinced him to keep it since it was bleeding really bad. Went back out into the shipping lanes and started getting a good amount of silvers, again lots of wilds but they were all nice fish between 5-8 lbs. I got two nice ones around 6 and I threw them in the box. Gary got into lots of fish but they kept either coming unpinned during the fight or they had too many fins to keep. Ended up three fish short of our limit,, but we had steady action all day so no one was bummed. Moved over to Sekiu to fish the morning bite on sunday, but it was dead out there, no one was catching any fish, so we packed it up and went home early. Alll in all it was a good trip. Lots of fish caught most released. We were hoping for more keepers but between John and I we ended up with 9 so it wasn't too bad. The best producing spoon was the trusty old coho killer in green and white at 110 feet down in 400-600 feet of water. I'm going back in two weeks, going to give it some time for more silvers and kings to work their way in. Lots of people were having trouble getting any kings and the word is the king run is late this year. Should be quite good in late july and early august. Oh and I saw a couple C dorys out that way. Saw the Joy but it was always too late or too early to knock on their door and introduce ourselves, also saw the FACdory but they stayed at sekiu all weekend so I never saw if it was Jeff, or Scott from the factory or someone else.
