The doubling of boat sales excise tax in the state of WA.

Definitely some are. I wrote letters to my three congressfolks asking them to oppose the tax increase on boats. Reps Leavitt and Bronoske replied quickly, said they opposed the tax, and were working to get the provision removed. Sometimes the response is that they support things, but understand...

Overnight parking boat ramp and marina list

Such a list would be great, and might morph into a user-supported app if the right person comes along, as used to be the case with Active Captain. On land, I use apps (Campendium) to find free campsites, and other apps (primarily Alltrails but also others) to find trails and parking for trails...

    Diesel odor

I would guess that if there is odor when the stove is not running, it is from spilled diesel or a leak and is exacerbated by the higher vapor pressure from Florida heat. I don't get an overpowering aroma here in the cold PNW, but I moved away from diesel to Klean Heat because of the smell. I...

    2021 spot shrimp

Well, you could be in area 13. No shrimp this year and no crab for the last 3 years, despite an abundance of red rock crabs. WDFW bases the total closure on Dungeness.

    Diesel odor

I use Klean Heat mostly after having the same problem. Its a lot more expensive but a gallon will usually fuel the Wallas for a good long time. There can be a smell if the combuation wafts back in, but it isn't nearly as unpleasant as diesel. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Klean-Strip-Ke ... er/3637782

The doubling of boat sales excise tax in the state of WA.

Part of the problem with WA is they have never used "fair market" value for valuing property. When I look it up, my C-Dory is valued for taxes at about twice its real market value. There is no appeal system of this valuation like with a house. Earlier I had a motorhome that had a "fair market"...

    vaccination

Yes, I did have several work experiences where I took hydroxychloroquine, and another antimalalial, I think primaquine. I never got malaria, which I am thankful for. Based on the things I saw endemic in people I met, particularly children, I became a firm believer in science and the positive...

    vaccination

I can't comment on it curing COVID that you already have, but I took it as a Peace Corps volunteer in Tanzania, working in Angola for World Vision, and working in the Brazilian Amazon. I don't know if it cures COVID, but it must prevent getting COVID!

    Wallace heater fuse size?

FYI, you can download a manual for the one currently used in the C-Dory at: https://www.scanmarineusa.com/wp-conten ... c-2011.pdf

    Wallace heater fuse size?

15 amps near the main battery (the one powering the stove). There are also 15 and 5 amp blade fuses attached to the unit. Mine (I have two) are 85/Nordic DT.

    Mounting Downrigger Hardware Advice

You can use aluminum stock, available in different thicknesses and widths, and easily worked with drill, jigsaw (with right blades), and cutoff saw (carbide blades are best). You can try first with the supplied mounting plate, and see if you think the support is enough. If it is, no need to...

    Mounting Downrigger Hardware Advice

...since it is available, definitely get the BP620 backing plate as a minimum, but, in my opinion, it might not distribute forces across enough area that it won't stress things. C-Dories are built lighter than most boats (CD22 is 2000 lb for a 22 ft cabin boat). My father's 18 ft crabbing boat...

    Mounting Downrigger Hardware Advice

Definitely don't use silicone...it is hard to get off. If you drill, gouge (remove some balsa inside), fill with epoxy, and redrill you won't have a path for water to get into your core. I use a Dremmel with a cutter wheel the size of the drilled hole, some people put an allen wrench, which...

    Drippy Cave Syndrome

A comment on dehumidifiers in the C-Dory cabin. Here on rainy, misty, Anderson Island, dehumidifiers make life possible ; >) in the winter. I keep a large one in the greenhouse, one in the basement, one in the shop, one in the guest house, one in the C-Dory when on the trailer, and one to move...

    Drippy Cave Syndrome

This one... https://www.lowes.com/pd/Pure-Enrichmen ... 1001389040 It is about 6 in wide, 4 in deep, and 12 in high. I bought it originally to protect some installations of monitoring equipment...run with solar and battery power inside of a sealed box. It worked well, but would only hold about...

    Drippy Cave Syndrome

Is anyone else using a dehumidifier while underway? Each person in the cabin is continually adding water through perspiration. Any cooking or boiling (I like coffee) also adds water. I find my DC dehumidifier removes about a pint of water a day, sometimes less, sometimes a lot more. A...

    Drippy Cave Syndrome

Key is understanding the difference between TOTAL and RELATIVE humidity. Total humidity is water dissolved into the air. Relative humidity is what you feel, and related to the ability of water to dissolve into or precipitate, out of the air, onto you, your windows, and your cabin interior. The...

Addiitonal benefits... 1) Euphoria that the pandemic might eventually end 2) Better health through not worrying (as much) about the possibility of being infected or infecting others 3) The possibility that my mother might be able to celebrate her 90th birthday with family in June, at least some...
