CD 25-BF150- 15 5/8 X 13 Honda Solas Stainless Prop- full fuel, water tank half full, 4 adults onboard, fishing gear for the day. Two foot chop.
RPM MPH MPG GPH
2000 6.7 6.3 1.2
4000 12.5 2.3 6
4200 14 2.6 6.1
4400 18 2.6 6.7
4600 20 2.9 6.9
4800 22 3.0 7.4
5950 WOT
This prop works better than the 15 1/2 X 15 aluminum that I was running. I lost some speed at same rpms but am able to spin prop up to 5950. Motor sounds better also. Not working it as hard. |

How did you derive your MPG data?
Do you plan to complete the experiment to see if there's a peak in the on-plane economy curve (i.e., figures for 5000, 5200, 5400 RPM)?

Good info. I am going to do the same with my 26' ProAngler and a 200 hp Honda as soon as I get the fuel scanner installed. _________________ On the HIGH TIDE-II, wife Carolyn and I.....Another summer fishing on the HIGH TIDE II in the Cook Inlet at Cape Ninilchik, Alaska.

Data was derived from Honda fuel managment gauges. Yes I would like to get more info at different rpm settings. Water was a little rough last trip so didn't get all info I wanted. Have trip planned this week for Montaque Island. This will be around 80 miles one way so should be able to gets lots of info at different rpms. There's a couple more props I want to experiment with if I can get my hands on them. I'll post results. |

I am going to start the great prop experiments on a 25 I bought a few weeks ago. The motor is a Yamaha 150. I have found that A-1 Propeller in Anchorage stocks quite a few props and they will let you try before you keep it. I plan that route with my experiments. Looking at you data from Jun, I would recommend you look for a 14 pitch prop. They are hard to find sometimes but will still keep you well into the WOT range and may give you a little better economy. I found a stainless 14 pitch prop on my Honda 90 gave the same performance as a 15 pitch aluminum on the top end, but much improved low speed performance.
