My new Balmar smartguage, along with the Morningstar solar controller are my battery monitoring system. The gauge is showing 100% charge, so the solar is at float stage. Both were a very easy install.

I made a steel pipe cross bar that has 20\" steel straps that slide up into the trailers tubing, now the outboard brace has a solid place to sit on.

This is a bronze cap I made with a hole saw over an old air conditioning thru-hull I removed, a very easy solution to covering the hole. It has a slightly larger square plate on the inside, the countersunk bolt is silicon bronze. Absolutely don't use brass!! Too much zinc in the alloy and it will suffer from "dezincafacation" in salt water.

Just installed this ProMariner, ProSafe galvanic isolator which of course should have been my first project not one of the last as this harbor is eating my zincs. It separates the 110 shore power ground small voltage leaks from other boats in the harbor. You can also see the back of the watermaker Clark pump and its pressure feed pump.

New oil bath kodiak hubs instead of the old grease through spindle system, you can see the oil level, they should be much less maintenance and more reliable. I just ordered Lucas hub oil for my emergency trailer box just in case. My last trailer had a different system that was bulletproof this one is new and has mixed reviews on the rear seal so I have a complete spare set. Stay tuned for a review. (Oil bath hubs are used on high mileage semi-trailers)

This winter we stayed in Big Sur so we could upgrade Sierra, and this is 6 in the morning on the dozer trying to get Dana to work. It will be so nice to miss our stormy winter on the ranch.

Dana\'s new step up top, a SS folding mast step. Also one of Dana's co-workers did a marine grade professional coating on the dark blue brow and overhang, I polished it out a couple of months ago with my normal marine products and it didn't get shine and color like this!

This 23 foot high antenna is for the SSB/Ham radio transceiver(see photo nearby), the top 2 sections are dismounted when traveling at speed. There are other options but for me this is the tried and true antenna solution and is the one we had on our Ranger Tug.

This hot little Icom 706 MK III G transmits at 100 watts on any ham, ssb marine and many other frequencies including VHF. It also has great AM reception and is so much more compact than our previous 802.

We just put on a Rocna Vulcan 25 in place of our old roll bar Rocna 22 the shorter shank pulls up tight on the roller and like the old Spade we loved on our big sailboat it has a weighted tip and if is anything like the Spade it will have a neck snapping set. We also changed over the gypsy to take the 50' of 5/16 g4 chain and 200' of 9/16 8 braid nylon off the Ranger Tug, we have seen gusts at times in the Sea of Cortez in the 85 mph range and one night in Lake Mead when the wind never dropped below 35-45 knots, in a small cove 15 feet off the lee shore rocks. We have seen a good sized sailboat go on the rocks behind us so we are happy to have always been "over anchored " Our Spade was yellow and easy to see on the bottom, always copy that now.

The big red rig, 1 ton diesel, perfect for the R25 Tug but overkill for a CD 25 but decent towing mileage (between 12 and 16 depending on the terrain) and will crest any pass at the speed limit (900 ft lbs of torque)and only need the exaust brake all the way down.(heavier duty trucks may have the same engine power as lighter dutys but have WAY more powerful brakes, and on this truck I have seen up to 90hp of exaust brake hold back and will hold us to under 60mph on the steepest downgrades with the CD25) also only the 1 ton comes with the Aisin trans that won't overheat when towing.
