I was hoping to get to the town of East Sound, but the 20-25 kt winds from the North persisted all day, so I camped out here at Obstruction Pass State Park for the day and night. All three State buoys were open.

A perfect anchorage for the weather conditions - protected from the northerly winds, and with the warm October sun shining from the south. Felt more like summer!

In the afternoon I blew up the kayak and went for a paddle around the bay.

I was hoping to get to the town of East Sound, but the 20-25 kt winds from the North persisted all day, so I camped out here at Obstruction Pass State Park for the day and night. All three State buoys were open.

Bellingham Channel was a much better option, and crossing Rosario Strait from north end of Cypress the waves were down to 1-2' and no whitecaps. Going with the current thru Obstruction Pass here.

Approaching Rosario Strait from Guemes / Bellingham Channels. Turned around shortly after entering Rosario Strait due to 3-4' whitecaps coming from the North, which is the direction I wanted to go. Turns out there was a SCA until 6 PM!

The fog cleared quickly. Heading up the cut just after 9 AM.
