Six inches deep, it does not overhang the mattress. This was wasted space before. Plans are to add other pieces towards the head of the berth. I hate bags and clutter in this area and this should eliminate the problem.

Since it doesn't include the word "marine" in the product description, it is very affordable. I ordered it on EBay.
