Made a new wedge out of materials I had with me on the road (1" x 2" scrap, planed top edge at 45? to contact motor better than the original, "sharp" edge).

Lowered into position, seen from beneath. If this works well I'll do something more elegant than the tape to hold the rubber in place (when not on the road!).

Taped some dense rubber stripping onto the top (the tape is just to hold it in place while the motor comes down, so I don't have to have my fingers in there).

It's now permanently deformed.

You can see a "slot" cast into the boat side of the motor mount toward the upper right. There is one of these each side and my new "wedge" fits into them.

M-Y Wedge slipped out of place and deformed, not sure why (did work fine for a different 3,000-mile tow). This allowed the motor to come down somewhat, but luckily not all the way as it "wedged" between the tilt cylinder and the transom.
