this cheap project came together when I dumpster dove some long lenghts of 12-Gauge Electro-Galvanized Half Slot Steel Strut Channel which I painted white. I don't consider this a permanent fixture on the boat otherwise I would have sourced some sort of aluminium or even SS chanel

the bow bracket is a little longer than the aft because the boat get a little wider forward

with the 4in. thick cushion it's a fairly standard seating height but creates a good amount of space underneath

the aft bracket length is shorter than the bow one because the the c-dory has a slightly pinched shape (also note the higher you go the wider it gets too)

I used PVC wood stuff from lowes for the back retaining pieces (the extra hole is for the fresh water fill cap on the porta potti that was too high after deciding to install dri-dek - whoops

depth of the slot (I think I made the front and back the same in the end even though the chamfer runs off level a little)
