    NavMan GPS for laptop

Found a terrific electronic navigation package called Memory-Map Navigator. Costs is $99.95 and VERY easy to use. Tried demo of many others including The CAPN Mosaic, Coastal Explorer, etc., but either too expensive or too steep a learning curve. Try demo of Memory Map Navigator...

    GPS antenna recommendation for laptop

I would like to know what GPS antenna people are using to interface with their laptop computers and navigation software. Need something to be compatable with my charting program (Chartview) which requires NMEA 0183 protocol. If you can, would appreciate make, model, and where you purchased...

    Boat Access - solo launching

Sea Wolf - Great input...much food for thought. I'm first going to explore a ladder attached to the trailer tongue that fits up to the top of the bow rail as you described. I would probably want it to hinge at the trailer mount and possibly be removable also. I will post later what I come up...

    Boat Access - solo launching

At my community ramp there is no dock adjacent to the ramp, and marsh (mud) along both sides of the ramp. My only access to the boat in order to drive it off the trailer is to climb from the trailer under the bow rail. Has any one built a gankplank or ladder device to get from the trailer to the...

    Fuel Filter/Separator question

Hey guys, thanks for all the great information. Following Sea Wolf's precautions, I removed the filter element, then unscrewed the separator bowl. The bowel had some rust colored sediment in it. I cleaned it good and plan to re-use the bowl with a new element I will pick up tomorrow. Don't...

    Fuel Filter/Separator question

I noticed one of my fuel filter/separators has a cloudy bowl at the bottom. I have bled it, but still cloudy. I would like to remove the entire filter, but I have visions of an uncontrolled gas flow into the bilge area once I disconnect the hoses to the filter. :smilep Any tips on how to...

    Problem with Hour Meters

Called C-Dory today re: hour meters. It turns out that the two meters I have are analog meters which can not be reset. The digital (LCD) meters can be reset. I ordered two Honda LCD hour meters ($25.89 ea) and will replace both meters...then, of course I will have to leave key(s) on for the...

    Problem with Hour Meters

I checked the back of my hour meters today...only two terminals with spade connectors. I will call C-Dory tomorrow and ask how to reset meter. I'll post a followup and let everyone know what I find out. Could be useful in the future....

    Problem with Hour Meters

Thanks to all for the responses. I think maybe the key was on and I didn't notice. If anyone has details on how to reset hour meter described by Anna Leigh, please let me know. Thanks again all. Pete

    Problem with Hour Meters

I have two engines on my C-Dory. In mid 2004, both hour meters read the same +_. Now I noticed the port engine reads 701 and the starboard engine reads 460. I know the 460 must be the correct number based on past log entries. The only thing I can attribute it to is that for a few weeks (no...

    Winterizing question

Sea Wolf - thanks for reply. Would I need to remove caps from batteries each time I charge? I remember when charging a car battery, the instructions said to remove the caps from the battery. Thanks again for your input! Pete
