    Charging Dual Batteries

That's an engineering question. I'm not an engineer. You most likely can come close to getting your answer my digging into articles about 12V battery chargers; Practical Sailor, Passagemaker, and the like. Aye.

    Charging Dual Batteries

My understanding: If the 2 batteries are identical except for a (small ?) voltage difference and are connected properly in parallel, the more fully charged battery will "backfeed" amps to the lesser charged battery until the voltage equalizes. During charging (see above 18 Feb 2025 post), the...

Many ways to sink a boat: Plug, Washdown, and Bilge Pump

Think the Universe will save you? Think you're in the know; maybe even a professional? Think again. Stuff happens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QImtC5m5EVc Aye. Grandpa used to say, "People overestimate their knowledge and abilities all the time, always have."

Many ways to sink a boat: Plug, Washdown, and Bilge Pump

Donald, sounds like progress; see below if you intend to nail it, kinda. Step #1: Create well thought out checklist for your vessel. Step #2: Follow the checklist every time; put thoughts into action. Then reap satisfaction in the fact you've done 'bout everything you can do to check your...

Many ways to sink a boat: Plug, Washdown, and Bilge Pump

It's strange, sounds maybe counterintuitive and errs on the side of safety but having OCD dedicated diligence with system checks before and during your on water adventure may, someday, save your marbles. Aye.

Many ways to sink a boat: Plug, Washdown, and Bilge Pump

Unfortunately, many approach boating with various levels of understanding or diligence required about operating a vessel properly. Some, thankfully, seek education prior. Kudos! Some, because they can write a personal check, do so for the appeal of freedom, exploration and pleasure water...

Anyone interested in a shared ownership of a C-22 Cruiser

Ken, Left the following voice mail for you (paraphrased): Sorry I got rev'd up about this just to be stalled out by my second in command (on the water only...) - "No more boats smaller than the 26 CDory". Good point made: length is ride. And, Lake Michigan, albeit fresh water, can be...

Anyone interested in a shared ownership of a C-22 Cruiser

Ken, Maybe I'm a neighbor. Maybe I could do such a thing. Perhaps we could trade more information about expectations, voyage plans, partnership agreement, boat experience levels, boating education, etc. ? How would you go about establishing a partnership with a virtual stranger? Curious and...

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

Whoops. Must of been that darn fecalith swirling around in my Circle of Willis... My previous post about weight comparison, twin vs single, is incorrect. Please disregard it. Sorry about that. Aye.

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

No go for the single Yamaha 200: * 285 lbs (Add one child or small animal [45 lbs] and now you're equal total weight with twins with fewer benefits) * 3352 Cubic cm displacement Go for twin Yamaha 100s: * 165 x 2 = 330 lbs (granted, it's always stern weight) * 3664 Cubic cm displacement (212...

    Low speed steering suggestions?

Yup. Better slow speed control with more propellers. Aye.

    Low speed steering suggestions?

This kind of thing is always disappointing to find out later, after thinking, researching and spending a pile of money for your new boat. Tho' not often mentioned in "single vs twin" engine debates, I've found twins on smaller outboard boats decrease snaking at low speeds. Aye.
