    22 Cruiser Cabinet Modifications

I just went out to measure the door under the helm seat on my 2007 22 Cruiser. It's 16 1/8" tall and 13 5/8" wide. Good luck with your project.[/img]

Any C Dorys on the East Coast?

Hi Scooper, I'm located in Cotuit on Cape Cod. My 2007, 22 cruiser is under a tarp in my yard for the winter. I'd be happy to show it to you and your wife. Jim

    Foolish Mistakes 101

How about forgetting to turn the fuel on when leaving the mooring. I can confirm that there is just enough fuel in the lines to get into the middle of the mooring field before the motor sputters to silence. Of course it happened with guest on board. And yes, the smart sailor should use a checklist.

    Winterize your anchor rode

I keep the boat on a mooring in salt water for the summer season. When I pull it before the cold of winter (at the beginning of November here on Cape Cod) I put the lower unit in a big tub of water with SaltAway and run the engine for a couple of minutes to flush the salt out. I use one of those...

Help with the name of a fitting...

Hi Mike B, I have a 2007 as well and the motor well boot rubber has rotted and needs replacement. It's on my list of winter projects. When I removed the rotted one there were no identifying numbers or name on the boot. So I'll have to see what the local WM or other shops have so I can try to...

Bilge question - where is the water coming from?

I'll get out on the boat on Friday and will try to take some photos and then post them over the weekend. Jim

Bilge question - where is the water coming from?

You can't actually see the hole. But, you can reach in and feel it. It's on the vertical surface of the forward wall of the bilge area.

Bilge question - where is the water coming from?

Greetings all, I too have a 2007 that does have the hole (maybe 3/8" or so) at the center, back end of the floor liner in the bilge pump area. I always assumed it was to drain any water that did get under the liner. When we purchased the boat we were told that the liner was installed on top...

New England and East 2009 Cruise Planning

Hi Phil, Anne and I hope to be joining Fred and the group for Boston Harbor cruising. Our plan would be to trailer the boat to Weymouth (where I grew up and will be able to park the truck and trailer at my sister's house). If you have not found a trailer for Retriever by then we could drop our...

New England and East 2009 Cruise Planning

Hi Fred and All, Count Anne and I in on at least one of the New England cruising adventures. Boston Harbor in May sounds wonderful. You might consider Nantucket Sound as a destination for your planning. Falmouth, Waquoit, Cotuit/Osterville, Hyannis, Bass River, as well as the Islands offer...

    Insurance Questions

One of the best deals on insurance comes from the U.S. Power Squadron. You have to compete their safe boating course and join your local squadron, but I found that the cost of insurance was almost half of what I was quoted by Boat US and a local insurer specializing in marine insurance. As an...

    Maintenance

As Ratty said to Mole, "There is nothing- absolutely nothing- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it." It's only work, if you think of it as work. Some chores are simply less fun...

    Let's talk compasses

Matt_unique, I'd also vote for the Ritchie Voyager (Combo dial) with the bracket mount. It doesn't take up all that much room and it's an important instrument to have on-board. Your life could depend on it, so don't cheap out. I was on a trip a few years ago from Portland to Cape Cod in the...

    2004 22 Cruiser, $35,000 (South Amboy, NJ)

Greetings to the new CD owner from Cape Cod, Welcome to the lucky few on the Cape fortunate enough to own a C-Dory. You're a member of a select group. As far as I know yours will be the 6th CD22 in the area. Where are you located and where will you be keeping the boat. Jim
