    Garmin Update

This happened to me just this Summer. Same thing, new computer, trying to update my 276C. Program wouldn't let me unlock with my code. Navigated around the phone system (don't remember exactly how) and I waited on the phone with the speaker on until someone picked up. They were extremely...

    Garmin Update

Grazer, I had the exact same problem you describe. I ended up calling Garmin and just explained that I had a MapSource CD and could not get the maps unlocked to update my unit. The person was really helpful and gave me an unlock code right there and helped me install it and unlock the maps...

    Florida Keys, Winter 2013

Lou, We drove down last Christmas from Manassas, Va and stayed on Geiger Key. Definitely go turnpike and pay Sunpass. It's easy. It's kind of cool to see your picture in the mail when you get back home passing the toll station. There are some fantastic reefs right out from Geiger and NAS...

You all are life savers. Thanks for the tips. I will try to remember a lot of this while hooking up at the marina slips. Mike

    Leaky Hatch

It sure is nice to have a dry cabin when it is pouring down rain outside. I appreciate everybody's input. I'm happy to report that because of all the great input, my cabin is dry! Mike

    Leaky Hatch

I used a new and sharp utility knife and started scoring over and over under the lip of the hatch. It takes a lot of passes but you will end up clean slicing through the bedding material (4200?). After I was all the way through the flange part I had to go inside and slice through the hatch in...

    Leaky Hatch

I ended up using a product named "Quick-fair" to fill in where the wet balsa was removed. It is a two part epoxy used for fairing out low spots, and when mixed has the consistancy of peanut butter, and looks like it too. It set up great, and then i used a belt sander to smooth and finish...

    cuddy hach leak

Thanks Bob, you are right, I actually did go to West Marine and bought and used a tube of 3M 4000 because it read on the package for sealing hatches. Sometimes I get my sealants confused :crook Mike

    cuddy hach leak

Jake, Do a search for "leaky hatch". I had the same problem. I found that after slicing the previous bonding material with a sharp utility knife, when I removed the hatch trim, I noticed the factory did not apply enough sealant. I removed all of the wet core material and filled with epoxy...

More on Navigation "apps" versus navigation electr

Mary, I bought a "XGPS150" made by Dual. It communicates with the iPad via "Bluetooth". It is "approved" for iPad, iPod, iPhone. It gives your true GPS location to the software as you go. I have never needed Wi-Fi because I have the entire map I need downloaded on the iPad. Mike

More on Navigation "apps" versus navigation electr

I use an Ipad with an external GPS puck. I downloaded Navimatics East Coast maps. I only use my Garmin GPS for backup now. I also bought a Ram Mount for Ipad w/ cover. The Navimatics charts are surprisingly accurate and I like it very much.

    05/18 - 05/21 - Carolina Loop May 2012

This cruise is such a nice idea. I would also like to meet other C-Dory folks on such a trip. Any chance you all would like to gather again later in the Summer?? Unfortunately the date does not work for us as well. :(

    EZ-Loader Bunk Trailer

I don't think you are hurting anything by having the bunks extending past the transom. Your trailer looks like you can't move the boat back any further...I may wrong. You can move the bunks out towards the side, or not, it should not hurt the hull, but moving the bunks out will not help to...

    Leaky Hatch

Thank you so much for the info. So no on the silicon. Ok, I do know butyl is used for bedding hardware and works by compression. The space where the rotten balsa is removed should be structural and not a fairing material. The core depth around the hatch area is only about an inch on the...
