Hi Bob! I had Angola add 28 inches to the sides, which was the same as someone else who posted here had done. I think that's about right since it covers the entire sides. On the port side, I also have two bungees at the stern area that also clip to eye bolts mounted into the sides of the catwalk boards. Both cover sides have a side zipper entry, so I can just walk through the cockpit to attach the clips on the port side. Also, I had double swim platforms added so I can actually hop onto the platform from the catwalk board and straddle across the engine to the other side, then hop off to the other catwalk board. It does take a little balancing to do that though!
You're right, the cover is not super light, but it's actually pretty easy to put on. I just unroll it in the cockpit then pull it over the cabin top and slip it over the bow rail. Thus, I take it off and on regularly when I use the boat, but will leave it off days at a time when I'm using the boat a lot.
I leave it on in all weather but if we had another Hurricane Helene pass through like we did in 2024, I would not keep it on. That was 75mph winds. I do use a dock line running through a vinyl tube across the cover top of the foredeck area to keep that area from flapping too much in a big blow. We are in big water, so we can get 50-60mph winds in storms often. However, the cover is so well formed to the boat, that if it's cinched down, I think it could take most any wind. I do also have a pole in the cockpit for added support and tension.
It really is a well made cover that fits the boat well. Very pleased with it!
Thanks!
Bobby
