Is there an easy way to drain the water tank in my 1999 Cdory 22 cruiser.

When my boat had the OEM water tank in it, the previous owner put a Y valve on the tank outlet which allowed a hose attachment that was used to drain the tank.

You could also just open the sink faucet and use the pump for the sink to drain it. It'll take awhile if you have the foot pump though. If you have an electric pump, you might be able to attach it to the faucet outlet and suck the water through the system depending on how the valves in the foot pump work.

Thanks. I will see if I can attach my electric pump to the foot pump outlet.

If your boat is on the trailer you can stretch some 3/8 plastic tubing over the faucet and then run it out of the cabin and down to the ground. pump the foot pump a few times and it will create a siphon and will drain out every last drop. I do this to mine every winter.

I.m not on a trailer but that sounds like a great way to do it. Thanks.

In regards to winterization, if I empty the tank using the onboard water pump I'm left with about 1 inch of standing water in the tank which I wouldn't normally be concerned with, but the elbow for the pick up line is at or below the water line and could be subject to freezing/expansion so I used a 1/2 in polyethylene tube and ran it down the fresh water fill tube in order to reach the very bottom of the tank where I could then use a fluid transfer hand pump to extract significantly more water out of the tank, lowering the water level to a point the pickup elbow would be free of freezing damage. The PE tube I routed down the fill tube was a little tricky to get thru the fittings and then trial and error to get it to the bottom of the tank but I was able to do that within a handful of attempts. This effort, coupled with the bypass valve I installed close to the tank, allows me to run the pink stuff into the system and eliminates the need for me to put the pink stuff directly in the fresh water tank which would get diluted due to the inch or so of standing water in there.

I put a small electric pump in series with the foot pump. There is a button on the inboard surface of the galley counter, which is momentary ‘on’ to push the water thru the faucet or hand pump (if so fitted). It will drain the water, or fill a tea kettle easily, without the pumping when necessary.
