    Outboards, impellers, pilot holes

Thank you guys. A classic case of bug in the orifice but I still wonder if the pressure from a hose and earmuffs will give you a false indication that the impeller is OK. I know a guy who demonstrated a boat in his driveway, all looked good, but as soon as the new owner put it in the lake, it...

    Outboards, impellers, pilot holes

My 2006 Suzuki DF90 gave me a scare yesterday. I started it up and as I always do I look back to see if the water stream is coming out of the pilot hole. It wasn't! The manual says you have 15 seconds before the world ends as you know it if no water is coming out. I was taking the boat out of...

    Curtains for our new C-dory

I used small sheet metal screws. Because the cabin wall is thin above the windows, I used a drill bit with a depth limiter on it and I ground the points off the screws to make them stubby and to be sure the points didn't poke through. A strong glue would work fine too, I imagine. I think it's...

    Curtains for our new C-dory

We had very good luck using the curtain hardware from Westmarine. Just go to there web page and enter "curtains" in the search window. We used the "Port Curtain Snap Track System" from Recmar. You get all the hardware you need to take whatever fabric you want to make curtains. You'll need to...

    09/28 - 09/30 - Sequim Bay Gathering

Would it be OK to attend the Sequim gathering if you don't bring your boat? My wife and I will be in Sequim that weekend and would like to drop in. I'm looking at a house there and just checking out the area. We've been looking to move to Puget Sound since we retired.

    VHF Antenna Relocation

There are two topics running about VHF antennas. One is about quality, the other location. Hope no one minds if I comment. I learn a lot here about boats but I can't add knowledge to this forum about crossing a bar at ebb tide or how to land a tuna but I've got some background in engineering...

    Proud American

Sorry but I think this thread is a very bad idea and a very slippery slope. Lets enjoy our boats, share information, make new friends. Lets not bring the polarization and animosity "onboard".

    Dead Battery - ???

If I may I'd like to add one small caveat to the discussion about batteries and voltmeters. It is a fine idea to have a modern digital voltmeter for troubleshooting but there is a gotcha with those. Testing batteries with them can lead you to false conclusions. A battery that wouldn't start your...

    Johnson 90: "CHK ENG" alert?

My Suzuki DF90 blinked it's check engine light at me and scared me too. It was just saying I was scheduled for an oil change. Blinking light but no sound.

    Amateur radio on a C-Dory 22 Cruiser

al and judy, Lets slow down a bit here. The last I heard, the technician license doesn't grant you "voice" privileges on what is known as "HF" or high frequency bands below 30 mhz. You would have voice privileges only on VHF and UHF (Very and Ultra) high frequencies, above 30 mhz, as a tech...

    Amateur radio on a C-Dory 22 Cruiser

I'm not quite clear on your question. Do you mean the best ham radio to buy? Ed KD7QL

    Early retirement or not?

I'd advise you to make a spreadsheet of your expense history over at least a year to 18 months. Get monthly amounts from bank statements, credit cards etc. Figure out your neccessary and discretionary costs per month and know what you've been spending. When you retire some costs will go down...

    A new C-Ranger

I figure you have read the review of the boat in the current issue of Passagemaker. You probably want to check that when the boat is delivered to you it has the "fixes" on it. I saw it and went aboard at the SBS and it is a very, very nice boat.

The good and the oh-so bad.

I'm anxious to see the new interior (and the Ranger 25) at the Seattle show. Perhaps someone who is a photographer could post photo's of the new molded interior here on this website? I don't see current photos on the factory site. Also I'd recommend reading the review of the Ranger 25 in the...

    kicker controls

It's been a month and a half now since getting my CD22. It's in the driveway and I'm slowly going over it trying to learn as I go. I have a new Suzuki 9.9 kicker tied by an aftermarket rod (stearnsinc) to the main for steering. But how do you steer from the helm without shift and throttle...

Hello. Just bought a 22 Cruiser

First looked at a C-Dory 22 at Seattle show 3(?) years ago. Then to get more info on powerboats I chartered a Devlin 29 footer out of Olympia, Wa. last summer. I really like Sam Devlin's boats. I came close to buying a Devlin 22 named Bunky, a "surf scoter" but it was $65K.

Hello. Just bought a 22 Cruiser

Hello to all. I just wanted to try and join in. I bought a 2006 at SportCraft in Oregon City a couple days ago. Plan to get used to it (first power boat) on Fern Ridge in Eugene, Or. then off to Newport, Or.
