    Launch bow anchor from stern

A friend of mine guided out of Ninilchik, AK, and did the same anchor bit on an '85 Angler and got along fine with this method. A bit of a pain in the ass when compared with a windlass, but it worked for him. He wound up with two lines running from the cockpit to the bow roller and tieing...

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

Charlie, yeah, go ahead and rub it in. Actually I considered tunneling the 22' Cruiser, but at the last minute chickened out. Barry, the "travel blocks" might well be called centering blocks because they absolutely center the boat every time on loading. How cool is that!

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

As a followup on the wedge type carpeted block side guides (Pic @ 3rd Byte Album) that I put on the trailer prior to launching this summer. I had assumed that I would probably have to loosen them up at some point in time during launch or retrieval of the boat. Not to worry. I launched and...

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

Warren, No it doesn't, a tie down strap should be used when trailering, but it doesn't do a thing for lateral positioning.

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

Thanks, Wandering Sagebrush, I think it's probably easier to shift sideways on the trailer with bunks than rollers, particularly wet bunks. Bunks or rollers either one, these CD's will put the lateral move on you when traveling down the road. Yes , Harvey, I put new tires on the trailer...

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

Absolutely, note that the blocks are slotted so the routine is to simply loosen the two nuts on the block a little and slide the blocks away from the boat without having to remove them from the trailer. These blocks are just a travel assist and as such when loading/unloading I have loosen...

    Boat Trailer Travel Fix....

I got tired of my 22 CD shifting laterally while trailering. The side guides are OK for loading, but they leave a lot to be desired due to their constant vibrating on the road, which requires separation from contact with the gelcoats. Tie downs help, but I have found nothing that will...

    Steering knob for helm/steering wheel

I have an Edson on my "04 C-Dory and it is pretty handy for tight maneuvering in the harbor/slip area. If your've in and out of tight areas I would heartily recommend them, especially if you do a lot of one-handing in the slip.

    Flushing Techniques

The plastic drum is a good idea, but not sure if a 90 with the Permatrim will fit. Saltaway is available at West Marine and most places that carry marine items. Pretty easy to find, although a little spendy. Has anyone used plain white vinegar in lieu of Saltaway? Vinegar is a pretty good...

    Flushing Techniques

The flushing bags are a great way to go, but with the Permatrim it's going to be necessary to have Quality make up a special sizing, which I think they will do w/o a problem, but probably for a additional cost. They are pretty good folks and I don't think it would be a big deal. (ref, Suzy...

    Fulton 3700 LB Cable Winch

I also replaced my Powerwinch with the Fulton 3700# winch. The electric winch was a pain for a number of reasons. The 3700 manual winch is great. Plenty stout and no hassle. You'll like it.

Take a look at the Windline BRM-4. Nice bow roller and a self launcher.

    3rd Byte Bear Pic's

These bear pics were taken by someone in the Anchorage area. They really do show the agility of these critters, not to mention just how attractive bird feeders are to them. I got a kick out of them and thought someone else might as well. Joe, the SBS is highly probable this year so I'll be...

    Helm Wheel Clearance Solutions

I'll be watching for your report on the #HA5419 wedge. Been thinking about taking some action myself to resolve the "tight quarters"........other than radical surgery. Also, Redden Marine offers this wedge for $57.+ for anyone interested.

Old skeleton key Lock and Latch

While on the subject of locks. I have two #18 keys for the older C-Dory Alfa lock which I would be glad to send to anyone that needs or could use them. I acquired them as extras for an '85 Angler I had at the time. The damn sure were an expensive key in their day Right now they're...

    New President Today

A small correction, we have just seen history made, but not of a president born in poverty. Poverty was never an issue, as evidenced by his attending the 5th grade through graduation at Punahou College Prepatory School in Honolulu, Hawaii. The tuition is not chump change. Aside from that...
