Spot shrimp in the San Juans for 2024

Weather improved just enough on Thursday & Friday last week in 7 west. We caught three limits both Thursday & Friday. Largest pot had 139. Smallest zero. Seemed better at swallower depths like 250-275. Two commercial boats moved in and starting laying long lines of 10 pots each in an...

What's your favorite fish for the table ?

In Hawai’i: Onaga or opakapaka. Both “red or pink snappers” that are delicious beyond compare. After that would be ono (wahoo) then mahi-mahi (dorado, dolphin fish) followed by ahi (yellowfin tuna). In WA State: halibut, hands down.

    New trailer

So due to reasons beyond my control, we will probably need to purchase a new trailer for our 25 Cruiser. We HAD a King 7000 with bunks, surge actuator & disc brakes. I’m looking to upgrade both trailer size/weight capacity and brake system to EOH (with discs). Aluminum would also be nice, but...

Greetings and Head Question: How important is it?

I had originally wanted a 22. We (The Admiral) and I went to a boat show. They did not have a 25 available. We stepped into the 22 Cruiser that they did have at the show. First thing out of her mouth "Oh...this is way too small". Second this was "Where's the bathroom/toilet?" Porta Potty...

Thoughts of replacing radar with solar panel ?

We have radar mounted on an arch. We also have a 110W solar panel. The panel is a semi-flex panel that I put on the roof when we anchor out. It's held down by simple web straps with snaps that go around the roof hand rails. When not needed, it's stored standing up in the head. On a 22...

    Appoximate towing weight of a C-Dory 25

IIRC it's a 7200 lb trailer. No way to confirm now as the sticker with serial number, model number etc has long ago faded to illegible. I have no idea on tongue weight, but I suppose I could weight it somehow. Truck weighs about 7600 lbs (full liquids, empty of humans and no gear). Weighed...

    Replacement help seat fit 25

I simply re-padded ours with better quality foam and added two SS hinges on the front so it flips up against he helm wheel. I used to bottom out on the wood because the foam was crappy and not nearly dense enough. No more.

    Appoximate towing weight of a C-Dory 25

Out boat was loaded up for a trip so I finally took advantage and put it on a WASDOT scale near our house. The scale is used by the WSP for truck weight enforcement. However, I don't think they've used it for a few years. I can only assume it's correct or close. I disconnected the coupler...

    Solar Panel Basics

I installed a very basic system a few years ago. One 110 watt "semi-flexible" panel that is stored standing up in the head. I employ the "curtain" to hold it up. This year I added an acrylic "green house" panel to the rear of it to help with cooling. The panel consists of myriad small...

Replacement of older G4 Tie Down disc brakes

Old thread: We went to use our boat and I discovered fluid down the port rear wheel and a blown caliper the cause. Removed the wheel to diagnose the problem and found the one pad had worn so much that the piston pushed past its limit and leaked. I suspect that caliper was “dragging” for an...
