Mystery electrical system problem - not sure how to proceed.

Fuse holders can be bad, not making a solid ocnnection with the fuse and there for heating the fuse and causing it to blow. If everything is fused, the little fuse should blow first. So either the total load is to large or there is a short in the ciruit before the smaller fuses, or there is...

As far as the water tank goes, I moved mine to a bladder tank under the V berth. Am happy so far, and it helps putting a little more weight forward. Jerry C nile

    Fuel lines

If you are pumping air, then you have a air leak somewhere. i have had that problem with portable tanks where the o ring in the hose gets bad. Is this something that just happen, or have you had the system open for some reason and filled the hose with air? Jerry C Nile

    Slips/Moorage in Portland Oregon

Tomahawk Bay and Haden Island are both popular, but you do have the island, bridge, traffic to deal with. These are both on the Columbia, there are several spots on the Willamette also. What do you plan on doing? this makes a difference on where you might want to stay. There is also Ducks and...

Let's go tubing! OTHER uses for c-dorys

We tried towing a wakeboard this week for the first time. Really worked out pretty good. I tied a tow bridle on the hand rails above the cabin and the grandchild liked that better than the bridle setup on my other boat. The high tow point made getting up much easier. I have permatrims on the...

    Hell oat

I opened the two cans of gellcoat that came with my boat a couple of days ago. The white was totally hard, the grey is very thin. I put four drops of hardner in a teaspoon of grey and nothing happened after three days. Does this require a special hardner or what. My neighbor has a C Dory also...

    Source for LED bulbs

After bad luck elsewhere, I found Superbright LEDs. Their bulbs are great and I have not had a failure with them. A big factor at some other sites. Jerry CD22 C NILE

Replace electric wiper motor on 16 Cruiser

i recently pulled one of my wiper arms to check on blade replacement. The arm is just a pressure fit but the spring on the arm tweaks it a bit which helps keep it on the shaft. Take the pressure off the arm and keeping the fitting straight, it should pull off. Jerry C Nile C22

    Dingy Experience

Just bought a West Marine HD270 inflatable, used but seldom in the water. I have limited use so far, but I like it and it is not too heavy. I can get 16 mph with a old 5 hp motor if I am the only one aboard. I packs pretty small, and the inflatable floor is easier to deal with. Jerry c22

No downward trim on 90hp Merc

I am curious how many wires are on the tilt motor, 2 or 3? Usually you have to flip flop both the hot and ground to change directions on a dc motor. if that is the case, then both relays may come into play for the directional change. So a problem in either relay could cause a problem. Jerry C...

    22 cruiser cockpit floor

I used Dri Deck but found the slope of the floor bugged me. So I made a two piece removeable floor from plywood and cut some stringers to match the slope of the floor and glassed it. Works grreat and will clear the door nicely. I think that there is almost two inches of clearence under the...

    Fold down helm seatback

I mounted my seat on a board that I can slide off of the counter, that really adds the counter space. I think there is a picture of it in my album. Jerry C Nile CD22

    Cabin drain hole plug

My boat has a plastic plug screwed into the drain. I see no reason to ever unplug it. I would lift the floor boards, screw in a plug and forget it. Ih the rare case where you might want it open, just lift the floor boards, remove the plug and drain or what ever. Jerry C22 C Nile

    HATCH COVERS IN BERTH

I am installing a bladder water tank in the front vberth area at this time. I did tab two small pieces on the sides of the center bulkhead to divide the area for support for the tank. I stopped both pices a little short of the hull so as to not point load. Plan on posting pictures. Jerry C Nile C22

    dead battery

For leak testing, I like to put a 12v light bulb in series with the battery cable. If the bulb glows, you have something trying to draw power, disconnect things until the light goes out. Jerry C Nile
