    Furuno Radar Trouble

I have a Furuno model 1623 Radar. It has worked flawlessly for over 200 hours. About a month ago we were cruising along in the dark and hit a tug boat wake a little hard and the screen went to dark, wide concentric bands with a dark center, very similar to a target. The next day, I pulled the...

2007 Alaska northern inland passage wilderness cruise

Jay and Jolee, No wait, don't stop. Come back and get some more material to write about. We are all going to have withdrawl. Better yet, take us with you next time. When you come up again, plan a few down days around Juneau and we can put you up at the house, haul Hunky-Dory out for repairs...

    Charts

I heard somewhere once that "work laptops" are always better and stronger than personal laptops.

    Some general C-25 questions

Ditto on most of what's been said. I really like my high radar arch for all the above, including grab handles, antennae mounting and wire routing as well as dingy and kayak holding. If I understand your question about canvas correctly; one issue I experienced with prolonged docking is that...

    Pot Pullers

We are in the process of building a custom davit to mount in the aft port cockpit of our 25. We are going to put a Safety Puller Light Professional motor and sheave assembly on it when they become available again from the factory after a motor redesign hiatus. We decided on a heavier set up...

    Charts

We never leave home without paper charts. Electronics are wonderful but I am leary of their failure and I just feel like I get a whole lot better perspective sometimes with the chart. Unless we are very close to home waters, I will almost always consult the chart a few times during a trip.

    Back Home

We just got back from an over-night trip, Spent a couple hours video taping humpbacks bubble feeding on the way home. They got pretty vocal at times Truly amazing to watch them team together the way the do.

2007 Alaska northern inland passage wilderness cruise

Hi Jay and Jolee, What a treat to see the great photos and text to accentuate the stories you told us when you were in Juneau. It was sure nice to see your faces as you told us some of your stories in person. You got Colleen more interested in venturing out further when we can find the time...

    Should we feel violated?

Well, that does it for me. Shucks, now we're just gonna have to go out and buy us a new boat now that lots of people have seen the picture I posted on the internet.

    Should we feel violated?

Well, the third one, the 25 with the white bouy on top is our C-Alaska. I guess I wouldn't have put any photos on line that I was too worried about, but it seems a little flakey.

    Anybody Tow a C25 with a 4Runner V8?

I tow our 25 with my 95 4runner V6, but only a short distance to and from the house and launch 3/4 mile away and use low range to haul it up the ramp. I won't tow it very far nor at any speed though. Which is not normally an issue here in Juneau. I am not so sure vehicle weight is such a big...

    running lights

Yep, we had the same problem and to boot, the all-around was blocked from aft and much of the side by the radar and arch. We mounted a taller mast onto the center top of the radar arch via a ratcheting mount so that the mast can be layed back when underway, keeping the light off the bow and...

    Cleaning Dock lines

Mesh laundry bag and a run through the washer works well for me too.

Is there a 12 volt DC outlet near the helm of a CD25?

Ditto Bob and Steve on our 04 CD25.

    waxing, polishing, etc.

Joe, I finally got my buffer from Harbor Freight. Looks like she will do the job. Now all I need is some temps in the proper range and I'll give her a try. Thanks for the lead and advice.

    DITCH BAG

We decided that for our needs, Mustang suits would be the better way for us to go. We might buy some survival suits as well. The Mustang suits are something we are able to use fairly often. I used them quite a bit in the Arctic and have had time in the water with them on. They are not as...

    Farewell little Valkyrie

As a veterinarian it is hard for me to think of anything to say that will make a difference because I know too well the sense of loss you feel. I just hope it helps to know that all of us understand how you feel and that our thoughts are with you tonight.

    DITCH BAG

I suspect that an incident in our Inside Passage would as likely as not end up with a beached (rocked) boat, which may or may not stay put, accessible or intact. We carry full survival gear, including redundant essentials for fire, signal, food, shelter and fire arms to keep us going until we...
