    Failed mooring bouys

Yeah, I did this once on a parks mooring buoy. I'm not confident with my anchoring skills, almost want to jump over the side and freedive to make sure it is good and secure every time. Glad it ended well.

    Honda BF 150A wont start

Glad it has narrowed down! How many hours on your engines? I have the exact same one so need to plan for eventual replacement

    Shrimp bait

Down in Victoria the depths prawning happens in is usually 350-200 feet and current is a huge factor in even getting the weighted traps and 7-8lb weight on the weighted line to the bottom. Following the last post temperature may be a factor, if it’s warm out they may be deeper but reading 600...

    Simplest dinghy solution for TomCat

There are some pretty cool catamaran inflatables out of Australia and NZ that are sold in the US. Paddle boards are a great solution. Take a lesson and you will find them amazingly stable. I have a 22lb red paddle that is great for shore trips. We still have our Alaskan but I loathe to use it...

    Dinghy Replacement

I would go for Zodiac Cadet as it has an inflatable keel and seems reasonably priced. We had our floor repaired on our Alaska series and it is leaking again. https://www.zodiac-nautic.com/en/shop/p ... t-roll-up/

    Reputable Marine Surveyor?

If it’s anywhere near Eastpoint I would see if Marc at Wefings marine could do an inspection. I’ve found surveyors to be useless at finding deficiencies and marginal about documenting what is on a boat and placing a value on it.

Current Atlas: Juan de Fuca Strait to Strait of Georgia

Thanks the paper version is a bit of a pain so looking forward to trying the digital version. Essential for fishing for halibut around Victoria!

Considering a C-Dory 16 trip from Anacortes to Friday Harbor

I'd bring an anchor with lots of rope and a dcs radio with built-in GPS or nmea networked to your gps. If you loose power, wind and tide can put you into dangerous spots but an anchor can keep you off the rocks or in one place for a tow. I have both handheld and fixed mount standard horizon...

    C-Dory Sightings

Anchored up next to a nice couple with their dog and daughter at Portland Island Princess Cove Friday night, after seeing a 19 Angler that was fishing for Ling’s inside the Victoria breakwater as we headed did Halibut and Prawns Thursday.

Easier entry to V berth on CD-25

I’ve seen a few pictures and I believe a recent video posted on the C-Dory group featured one that had been cut out. If I didn’t have 3+ years of napping kids ahead of me I’d do it!

    Anyone using an auto pilot?

So my son can sleep in my arms while I’m at the helm on rough days, so we can land tyee a 30 lb salmon with just two guys on the boat, for dock to dock auto routing on Lowrance, to have a rear helm using a second Lowrance Hds, so I can get traps ready while someone watches for debris in the...

    New Suzi!

Thanks I need one little part off a BF150. I'll reach out to them. How many hours did you have on it and what happened? Hope mine lasts long and prosper or I'll go black like you!

    New Suzi!

Looks great. You are keeping your Honda kicker? I have the dual Honda binnacle so feel married to my Honda’s, but would love another 50 ponies. Taking it Tuna fishing this year?

    Intuition to Alaska - 2021

I’ll be following your trip. We have the same boat almost exactly. We have a 2hp Honda that is a little bulky, you can find them used for 4-600$. Using our Honda 9.9 on a dingy especially our Alaskan is a nightmare pipe dream. I would look at a light electric motor with a separate 12v battery...

    Towing a 22 Cruiser with a Toyota Tacoma ?

I’d check if it has the full tow package installed, also is a weight distribution hitch recommended to tow that much weight? I bet it is since it is for a Tundra.

    Canada - US Border

Sounds like a deal. With business being slow for me fishing lessons are available! A good day on the water better then any day in the office. Rumours of my wife getting vaccinated in BC soon, as she is a vice principle. I’ll check in with some tourism buddies to see how their talks with...
