    Moving the Grand Banks

Well I just moved all of the stuff from the TC24 onto the GB. Wow, what a difference in space! The lazarette is only about 1/3 full, maybe less. I still have unused drawers in the salon, space under the seats, six more drawers in the v-berth, a hanging closet, and other assorted cubby holes...

    Moving the Grand Banks

Thanks folks. I made the trip up from Seattle on west side of Whidey Island. There was a nice break in the weather that let me do this. I didn't want to go through Swinomish channel due to the speed restrictions (sounds funny for a GB). I would have hit the channel close to dark and having...

    Moving the Grand Banks

No, not those Grand Banks, but our Grand Banks. The GB that we just bought was located in Seattle and we live in Bellingham. We had to move the boat and today was the day. The trip from Seattle is about 90 miles and at 8-10 knots, depending on current, it was about an 8 1/2 hour trip. The...

A new boat, a new language

Thanks Jim, thanks Sunbeam. You're right that teak is simply part of having a GB. The rails and the decks are teak. Fortunately for me the window frames are aluminum. As for getting out, I don't think that a few days varnishing will bite into cruising time. The big point for us is that...

Yup, Scout has been well cared for. Now it's up to me to keep her in good shape.

A new boat, a new language

Thanks Bob, the boat, Scout, has a Cummins engine. Last year Scout received new electronics, new upholstery in the cabin and the flybridge, fresh bottom paint, and new canvas. This past September all the teak was revarnished. Thus, from now on if she doesn't look good it's my fault.

A new boat, a new language

The GB draws a little less tha 4'. Right now it seems like we will never fill up the space. I know that will change, however! I'm semi-retired, workin three months on and thee months off, so I have the time to putter on the boat. Indeed when we had our TC24, I got bored when their wasn't a...

A new boat, a new language

Bob, somehow I knew that you would know these terms. Fortunately, it's not a woodie. That would be too much. I'm looking forward to the learning curve. The engine has relatively low hours and is good shape, as are all of the other important systems. Most of the upkeep will be on the...

A new boat, a new language

As you know, we just bought a Grand Banks 32. During the survey, I heard lots of interesting terms. It started with the surveyor saying that the boat had a few missing bungs. Did they run away? Followed by the fact that we had nice scarf joints. I thought that my knees were much less than...

    And our new boat is...

Our GB 32 is a 1990 model (hull #828) and is powered by a Cummins. Her name is Scout, and if anyone sees us, just holler for a visit. If I wasn't semi-retired I don't know if we would have gone for the GB due the amount of teak on the boat! I'm going to find out how much I like to varnish.

    And our new boat is...

A Grand Banks 32. We found out last summer that we really enjoyed cruising at hull speed. We also realized that we were not going to tow a boat. We don't have a tow rig, and the San Juans and the Canadien islands are just out of our harbor. We also tended to have company, especially with our...

Help a guy and his gal become C-Brats

I'll second the vote for a tomcat. I just sold an older 24' tomcat for about the price of a newer 22. The tomcats have much more room and can handle moderate chop much better. At 2-3' chop we could run at 20 knots without too much pounding. Great boats and a great site!

    Boatless in Bellingham

Well we sold C-weetness our tc24. This evening I have no man cave to go to. We cannot watch the weather to see if there is a break in the fall storms for a short cruise. No boat to just sit on. Gee we need to find a new boat. Boatless, what a terrible space in our lives. Anybody been in...
