Been a while since we did a "tips and hints" threa

Well on the cheap side I carry a metal clothes hander. I can bend that thing in multiple ways. Something thrashing about in the bilge? Use the hanger to pull it out. Need to snag a wire just out of reach? The hanger. Need to catch the small chain attached to the gas fill cap? The hanger...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Took the tomcat out of the water and cleaned the scum line. Also got a bunch of grease stains out of the splash well. Then I cut out a piece of 1/2 inch plywood to replace the rotten seat bottom on an older garlick chair. The frame is ss, so didn't want to just junk it. I'll use a throw pillow...

    first time c dory owner

Welcome! Working on a boat is one the best ways to pass time. And the projects never seem to end.

dual 40s hp or single 90hp engine?

We have twins on the tomcat. Just the way the boat is. We like the ability to maneuver in close quarters and I'm still too new to boating to be able to say that I could do the same with a single. But I will say that when it comes time to service the engines the cost adds up. Two lower units to...

A Couple of New Customizations on Daydream This Weekend!

Pat this looks great! It's given me a couple of ideas for the tomcat. Hope I can pull it off.

More on Navigation "apps" versus navigation electr

Yup, we have a garmin depth finder that we use in addition to our iPad. You are right that it's a good thing to know exactly how much water is below the boat. When we run the iPad handles the charting, the raymarine does the radar, and the garmin does the depth. We also have an iPhone with...

More on Navigation "apps" versus navigation electr

I have the raymarine c70 but seldom use it since I bought my iPad. I downloaded navionics and it works beautifully for us (remember to lock the screen so that it doesn't rotate when the boat bounces). As Roger said a bonus of the iPad is that you can search the web, post reports, and watch...

    Speed on a C-Dory

We agree. As relative newcomers to c-dorys we have found that we tend to go slower in order to enjoy the ride. With the tomcat, however, we sometimes do increase speed in order to smooth out the ride. That seems counterintuitive but it's true. Most of all, however, we enjoy the ability to go...

    Spending extended time aboard...

We use hypervent under the cushions in the berth. It works very well to keep the bottom of the cushions dry. I don't think it does much for the rest of the cabin, though.

    fuel capacity

I agree. Keep the fuel in the cockpit. And welcome to c-bats!!

    C-Dory Sightings

There is now a third c-dory at Hilton Harbor in Bellingham. This one is a 22 angler. Looks like a newer model in good shape. That makes a 22 angler, a 22 cruiser, and of course our 24 tomcat. Now we need a 25, a 16, and maybe a 14. Wish we at Friday Habor for the CBGT but work and family...

    Gas Prices

Here in Bellingham gas prices went up 12 cents just over the weekend. I can't wait for this weekend. If I'm lucky I can find gas for 4.39 per gallon.
