dual engines on a C-16 Cruiser

Just repowered this past summer. Replaced a 50 with a 50. Did all the research and reasoning I could muster, but couldn't make it to twins on my 16 Cruiser. But, I still love the thought of the possibility. :)

    C-dory 16 motor choices

Why haven't they re-rated the hull? With newer engines weighing somewhat less than their older siblings. Seem to me the hull would be rated for a larger engine. Or is this is a displacement hull thing? Where there is a point of diminishing returns due to design and max hull speed?

    C-dory 16 motor choices

That would be why a 40 might be the best 16 Cruiser option in Honda, but that doesn't apply across the board with other brands. You have to do your homework and choose what is right for your personal running pleasure, local marine situations, and pocket book. My pocket book is a little depleted...

    C-dory 16 motor choices

I went with ETEC 50 and I'm not looking back. Best discission I ever made. Less cabin noise, higher top speed, and better fuel economy. It was more expensive, but the hole shot and instantly on plane for my 16 cruiser, it was worth it!

    C-dory 16 motor choices

Repowered with a 50 (had a 50 originally). Had the same conversation with the Dealer. Bottom line for me, the 50 will get me out of harms way quicker when harms way comes looking for me!

New Bimini for a 16 Cruiser

Side curtains will be around Jan-Feb. The wife and I will try and tackle this project. Going to try and use the old curtains and sew in zippered spacers to bridge the distance.

New Bimini for a 16 Cruiser

Well bent the original Bimini frame several months back. Decided it was time to go ahead with a "to do list" project and have one made that I really wanted! More like a Tee Top than a Bimini. I looked at several versions in many photo albums on this site, and finally just drew one on paper and...

    Captain’s License questions

I attended Sea School in Alabama. Aquired a 100 ton. Only dumb move was to not complete everything for a 200 ton Mate. Same testing wether you take the OUPV (6 pack), or greater tonnage, shoot for the moon if you qualify be the skinniest of margins. Would hate to sit for another test to move up...

Repowering Boat, not a C-dory, but respect your knowledge :)

Check out the ETEC! Might cost a little more, but is less expensive over the length of a motors life. NO Break In Period, Less moving parts, Better votlage output, Oil is a little expensive, but it really lasts a long time.

Repowering Boat, not a C-dory, but respect your knowledge :)

I went ETEC just last month. Best EPA rating of them all from what I have read. It shouldn't be banned. But I would confirm that for your desired location. I am extremely pleased thus far. Great hole shot and slightly better top end. Fuel economy is great! Required service every 3 years/300...

Honda bf50 4 blade prop on 16 cruiser

That is what I was telling you earlier. It usually requires 2 degrees less pitch when going from a 3 blate to a 4 blade. That is generally always the starting point for the change. Then you can get a prop shop to fine tune the pitch for optimum performance.

Honda bf50 4 blade prop on 16 cruiser

There are several pprop calculators on the web. Just do a search and you will find them. Usually when going to a 4 blade you eith decrease the pitch by two or the diameter by 1-1.5 inches. You will be slinging more weight at the prop, so change is required to maintain RPM's.

Honda bf50 4 blade prop on 16 cruiser

Usually 2 degrees less pitch from the 3 blade is the starting point. Dealers in our area will let us try different props as long as we don't damage them.
