    Wallas Heater Total Confusion

With my older stove ('93 kerosene), on startup the fan whirrs and the fuel pump clicks for maybe thirty seconds and then, when it finally achieves ignition, there is sometimes a noticeable "whumpf" that emanates from the combustion chamber. Shortly thereafter, a slight odor may be apparent for...

    Another Webasto furnace install

These are exciting projects. IMO, nothing adds more to these little cabin boats then dry, DEPENDABLE heat. Electronics, downriggers, you name it, if you're damp and shivering all those goodies don't seem very important. In all my Adeline years(since the Wallas) I've NEVER had to wear any...

    Nissan 90hp outboard

I THINK that the Nissan/Tohatsu 90 is the same weight/displacement as their 115. If this is the case, then, the 115 seems like a viable option.

    Open WiFi Dangers

I received my "Active Captain Newsletter" today and it included a segment entitled "Open WiFi Dangers". There is nothing on their website that I could find to link to so I'm posting the article below. BTW, the newsletter is free and is VERY informative. >>> Open WiFi Dangers >>> Needless to...

    Outboard Lower Unit

My original routine was to check my oil at 50 hours by briefly loosening the lower plug. It was ALWAYS ok. I'd go to change it at 100 and it was ALWAYS milky. I had my tech run the prescribed OMC test (vacuum or pressure, I don't recall). It was fine. Long story short, by loosening the lower...

Wallas Tips That I've Learned (the hard way)

I was preparing a reply to a different thread and decided that this info would be easier to find as a new topic...it's mostly a rehash of other discussions. After living with my Wallas for over 15 years I can report that FRESH FUEL is the most important thing to keeping her running. Some...

    Replacement LED Cabin Lights

In case someone else is interested in just replacement bulbs (for the cabin fixtures) I can report that these are a direct replacement and offer bright, WHITE illumination AND energy savings for a reasonable price. Somewhere there is (was ?) a thread where we thrashed this out but I couldn't...

Late to Lake Powell this Year, but Great Photo Ops!

Thanks for sharing those wonderful images. I haven't seen this face of Powell before. If I ever get down there I'll pray for rain... Coming from the Pacific Northwest, I never thought I'd say that.

    Bruce anchors

I use an 11# Bruce on Adeline. 15' of chain. Anything heavier seems overkill to me. Bruce tables list the 11#er as a working anchor for boats to 29'. BRUCE ANCHOR SELECTION GUIDE Never dragged in any of the blows I've been in. Seems perfect for Puget Sound/San Juans. If I boated Alaska I...

    Laptop Table or Mount

If you've got a "Tap Plastics" nearby they'll fab up your project for a small charge. I think they call their HDPE product "Sea-Board" but it's the same stuff. I like to make cardboard templates where possible so there's no doubt what I want from their fabricators.
