    Trailering on Vancouver Island

Jeff, We've towed to the North end of the island 3 times. The first time we left the trailers in Telegraph Cove and that worked well. The next two times, we stored the trailer in a locked yard in Port McNeill. The yard is owned by Steve Jackman, who with his father, own the Fuel Dock and...

Thoughts on RAM 1500 Eco Diesel

I've never been a Dodge, or Fiat, fan. But that's just behind the Twins vs Single debate! Something new in the mix is the 2016 Nissan Titan with a 5.0 L Cummins V6. A lot stronger engine and higher towing capacity. http://www.nissanusa.com/trucks/2016-titan/

Installing inline transfer relay switch for inverter.

Gene, Here's how we wired our TC. One panel handles shore power only loads like the refer, water heater and battery charger. The other is for Inverter pass through loads (all outlets). I left one half of one duplex outlet connected to shore power to power a dehumidifier. We used an Outback...

    Olympic Peninsula Non-Ethanol fuel

If any of the Brats on the Olympic Peninsula are looking for some non-ethanol fuel for your Winter lay-up, the Co-Op in Sequim has Non-Ethanol Premium. John Wayne Marina has 87 Octane Non-Ethanol for about $0.50 cheaper but isn't wild about running to the pump to fill your 1 gallon lawnmower...

    New Raymarine - ???

We looked into upgrading our E-80 to a newer model. I might have gotten away with it until my wife asked the salesman if it would just be a drop in replacement. "Oh no", he replied, "You'll need to upgrade the Radar to the new HD version!" A little quick math ended that conversation.

    Backing down on anchor

I think a 150 can always pull an anchor loose if you try hard enough. Try this: Go to the bow and have your crew lower the anchor to approximately the depth under the anchor (anchor is now hanging very near the bottom) Then lower the anchor as the boat is put in reverse. The chain is now being...

Just use the PM or e-mail buttons on the lower Left of the original post. Maybe better to use both to make sure Larry gets the message.

Steering with twin engines: Differential Throttle Control

All the time Harvey! And, it's even easier when the engines are 4-5 feet apart and counter-rotating

    Changes in New tomcats

In 2006, the bracket that mounts the engines to the hull was lengthened to prevent a lot of spray when underway. Ours (Dreamer) was the first out of the factory with that mod and several were retrofitted after that. Much later, the interior was changed to molded fiberglass. I wouldn't have liked...

How much boat is too much for someone new to boating?

A common mistake made by boaters and RVers is to buy too small a rig and within a year, move up to the next level and so on. A huge money pit. The boats you mentioned can be mastered almost as easily as a CD-16. There are just more systems to learn. The help you can get here from fellow Brats...

Considering the catastrophic failure of the Honda 150 on the ex Anna Leigh, I'd be looking for a 25 with a Yamaha or Suzuki!

What a storm in the PNW!

I like your survival skills Rog! Had sprinkles this afternoon in Sequim, 2-3 knot wind gusting to 5 on our hill. The channel 5 weather reporting site West of town had 45 mph wind however.

    wifi access whle cruising

Joel, I have an I-Phone and talking on it is the thing I do least. But I use it for e-mail, internet, tides, vessel traffic, weather, satellite TV dish pointing, locating cheapest gas and on and on. If you don't want to talk, don't give out the number! But the available technology is well worth it.
