    05/08 - 05/10 - Friday Harbor, WA

Mark (and others attending the Friday Harbor CBGT), My family and I will be leaving Edmonds Marina early Friday morning if you'd like to cruise up together. We had 5 boats last year in the flotilla, but it appears that our boat is the only repeat from last year's group. Pingu is a "beer can...

    Hood Canal sites

Can't say much about going INTO the Hood Canal, but I will second Roger regarding Port Ludlow. It is the quietest marina I have ever visited and definitely one of the most relaxing. The Harbor Master restaurant is nothing fancy but the food is good. The restrooms at the marina are first rate...

    07/31 - 08/02 - Nanaimo, British Columbia

Here is a link to the Crow and Gate Pub: http://www.crowandgate.com/index.html. Looks like fun. I've booked my space already and I'm bringing the Rug-brats so you'll have to tell me all about the pub since minors are not allowed.

    I started a BLOG

I tried starting a blog. I found out that I didn't have much to say that anyone really wanted to read...including myself. I came to the conclusion that it sucks when you're as boring in type as you are in person. Such is my life. I wouldn't blame anyone if they just skipped over this message...

    History of Snoqualmie Brewery?

I'm working my way through a Steam Train Porter right now... ummmm! Snoqualmie Falls really is a neat tourist attraction...get the family excited to see it and then casually mention, "Well, since we're in the neighborhood I've heard a lot of good things about the Snoqualmie Falls Brewery...

    Powering a 25'...

For the sake of the discussion, I'll put in my 2 cents for the Mercury Verado 150. My CD 25 had a single Mercury Verado 150, ~1.75 liter with a super-charger. It worked wonderfully with the boat. It had plenty of power when loaded to the gills, 2 adults, 2 little kids (and all their stuff)...

    Seagrass and Suzuki outboards

I'm with Tom on this one, best to back up first to see if that solves the problem without stopping the motor, and with two motors, stop only one at a time. Of course, if the motor is stopping on its own then it's a moot point. My first thought would be that it is more than just sea grass...

Snowing again - biggest snow flakes I've ever seen

Roger, I agree about the size of the snowflakes. Even my wife said they were the biggest she's ever seen! I can't say I have much snowflake experience having grown up in San Francisco, but I agree they were big. Also, like you mentioned after the snow came the wind. I can't get used to that...

SFB - Nice Place to Visit

OK, so this is NOT a boating topic...I'm ready to be chastised. The other day, our school had an auction and one of the items auctioned off was a case of Snoqualmie Falls Brewery beer and a "growler" with gift certificate to fill with any beer I wanted from the brewery. Of course, knowing two...

    07/31 - 08/02 - Nanaimo, British Columbia

My family and I would like to attend also! This would be our first trip to Nanaimo and our first to Canada by boat. All very exciting. I'm like Grumpy, a former C-Dory owner but the 'beer can boat' likes to hang with C-Dorys...we'll do our best to blend in. :-)

Mystery Bay, a little less painful

Roger, First I am glad to hear that Janet has mended and is feeling better. Your information about the Washington State Park system is one more reason I'm glad I live up here in the great Pacific North West. Mystery Bay, is that the area across from Port Townsend? Last time I entered that...

    05/08 - 05/10 - Friday Harbor, WA

Hey Pat, forgive and forget what? It was clever when you said it and I've often referred to it since. Besides, if it means I get to drink more of your beer...:-)

    Anyone using Skype?

I use Skype all the time for work. I need to talk to Austria and Japan on an almost daily basis for hours on end and the cost would be prohibitive if not for Skype. Regarding headsets: I don't know if it is the size or shape of my head, or the fact that it is hollow, but I just can't use a...

    05/08 - 05/10 - Friday Harbor, WA

Hello, I know it has been a while since I last communicated. As I've heard others mention elsewhere on the site and it's true - work is getting in the way of my boating (and my life!) I'm lucky to be very busy, but it does take a lot of my time. Oh well, if you guys are willing to accept me...

    21ec name ideas?

I just want to add... My above comments are coming from a guy whose boat is named "Pingu." I don't need to call the Coast Guard to have people not understand the name. Heck at CBGTs I get teased. TomRay's advice is good. -Sarge

    21ec name ideas?

I really like Roger's suggestion, but to go with TomRay's theme, How about naming it: My boat That way when your screaming on the radio you can yell, "My boat is sinking!" (heaven forbid!!!!) Of course, you might end up with one of those Abbott and Costello routines with the Coast Guard...

    Hull Popping Noise?

Fish sucking algae off the bottom of the boat.... You learn something new everyday. I rather liked this thread, it was fascinating.

    08/15 - 08/17, 2008 Bellingham, WA CBGT

Just in case anyone is looking for us....we didn't make it! :( The starboard motor kept acting up... water temp fluctuating from 145-197 degress F (up and down) constantly. It most likely is a sensor or wire but I didn't want to push it for 160 miles. Hope everyone has fun. Wish we were...

    08/15 - 08/17, 2008 Bellingham, WA CBGT

Pat and Barry, Thanks for the advice guys. :thup I'm not one to ask for advice just to ignore it. Pingu and crew will be traveling via "Saratoga Passage, pop out at Deception Pass, run up Rosario to Bellingham Channel between Cypress and Guemes, around the south end of Lummi into...

    08/15 - 08/17, 2008 Bellingham, WA CBGT

Joe and Ruth, As I PMed earlier, Pingu's starboard motor was acting up. The mechanic looked at it and thinks it was simply a loose connection causing the alarm to go off. Since I've been accused of having a couple of loose screws, I'm going to take his word for it and go for it. The clan and...
