    Northwest Lake Cruise

Hmm, that's not what I had in mind. I think we'll push this out a bit. I'm trying to avoid the hot and crowded days we saw on an earlier trip. Thanks for the local info.

    Overheating Outboard on Flushing Muffs

When I use muffs I put duct tape over the water intake on the underside of the cavitation plate per the owner's manual. The one time I didn't I got an overheat alarm. Taped it and started back up with no alarm.

    Maiden voyage - seeking advice

Hi Matt, Congratulations on your new boat. We do a lot of east side of Whidbey Island cruising. The Everett to San Juans trip is a lot for three days/two nights and there are a lot of nice places you'll be blasting by to make that schedule. And you'll need some flexibility for current, fog, and...

    Favorite flashlight?

Thanks All, very helpful and interesting to see what everyone's using. I ended up buying a Streamlight spotlight from Home Depot, battery powered with 12V backup. Combination of great reviews, lifetime warrantee, and good price. Harvey, love the pringles solution! John

    Favorite flashlight?

Hi all, It's time to buy a new flashlight as the last old expensive one has quit. It was pretty good but 9 AA batteries every season and $70 seems like it should have lasted forever. Does anyone have a recommendation for a flashlight they love? Looking for a large primary light for picking out...

    Engine Help

Well it turned out to be another self-inflicted wound- the oil filter was leaking. I couldn't see it without a flashlight and careful watching while running. I couldn't tighten it enough to stop the drip so changed the oil and replaced it with a new one. This was the first NAPA Gold filter I've...

    Engine Help

Pulled the boat leaving some crabs for the rest of you and I found oil leaking from the joint above the extension case, through a gap where the under cover rubber is missing. About half of it is gone. It's a slow but steady ooze. Is replacing the seal enough or should I be looking for something...

    Engine Help

You guys are great and I really appreciate the expertise available here. I replaced the stats during this last service but suppose one could be bad... I like the waste oil idea best and will keep fingers crossed on that. Nigel, your offer of thermostats is extremely kind, thanks! I ordered...

    Engine Help

Hi- We have Honda 40's on our 22, about 300 hours. I've just started doing the maintenance myself. Last oil change the starboard engine was milky and over-full. I put it down to condensation from lots of idling during crabbing, refilled and hoped for the best. I'm now having a small oil sheen on...

    New guy

Hi Joe, We're C Brat neighbors in Freeland and couldn't be happier with the boat! We moved down from a 38' cruising sailboat to a CD22 five years ago are having a ball. The cabin for getting out of the chilly north winds on the way back from crabbing, the light and views when camp cruising, easy...
