    Tying off the TomCat

Roger, thanks for the pictures and reply. I happened to drive by a West Marine today, so I turned around and picked up a couple of cam-cleats. These are pretty neat gizmos. And as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I am seriously thinking about mounting a couple of 6" cleats on the inwale...

    Looking for plastic vent cover

Hello to all. I know this is a long shot but who knows, maybe one of you has come across something like this. I am looking for a white plastic rectangular vent cover to go over a 7" x 5" hole. Hopefully one where louvers would point downward when looking at the cover with the long axis held...

    Tying off the TomCat

Hi Roger. Thank you for the pictures. I have a few questions, if you don't mind. On your cam cleats, did you through bolt those? You mention that your aft fenders hang on adjustable snap-on hangers. Which hangers do you use? And are the fenders you hang from the eye below the windows...

    Overboard washdown pump SEARCH help

Interesting. I wonder if that would work as an emergency bilge pump. Just cut that spray nozzle off. --- mike

What's A Good Helm Replacement Seat?

Nice seat. Thanks for posting. Didn't get the arms, eh? And is there still enough room to get your knees under the wheel? Given your trouble with Llebroc, I wonder if it wouldn't be better to find a upholstery place and have it custom built. Maybe there are such things as upholsterers that...

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

Captain Matt, I am missing something here that is probably completely obvious to everyone else. Why would hard reverse cause back pressure in the steering system? I hope it will have a few neat things that will make it a just a bit unique. If nothing else, they will make me smile. :) --- mike

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

Yes there is. And I agree that's a good place to mount stuff. As long as I don't spring any leaks under there. That reminds me, I need to check those darn leaky shower fixtures again. --- mike

    Moving from Fuses to Breakers

Mid August is a convergence point for many things that makes it the right time to get the boat in the water. Right now was the best time for some of the changes I have been discussing in my posts. I will get her in the water this season, and will go as long as I can. I bet I make it though...

    Moving from Fuses to Breakers

Good question. The bilge pumps have to be wired to the battery (or unswitched buss), so a breaker in a panel that might be powered down won't do. Now, I was pondering using use an inline breaker, but because of the electronics in these particular bilge pumps, I think a fuse is best. I am...

    Moving from Fuses to Breakers

I do suffer from a bit of that. :) I do realize that this is a bit of a waste of time/money, but it's also one of a few ways I will be personalizing this boat. And personalization makes the boat more fun. And one of a kind. :) From a safety perspective, I'll not be removing any fuses that...

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

Yes, in the galley cabinet makes sense, but the water heater in mine is in the cabinet below the captain's chair, and there is no room in there. I think I talked her out of that. Instead, I plan to make the dinette space more flexible by making it convertible to bench seating. --- mike

    Moving from Fuses to Breakers

I hate fuses. It's an odd pet peeve of mine. Probably rooted in the fact that I generally don't have the one I need at the time. :) I also have no love of crawling around trying to insert a fuse in rough seas while the Admiral says something like, "Honey, should I be worried about that big...

    Moving from Fuses to Breakers

Hello everyone. I am pondering moving from fuses to DC breakers for my wipers, refrigerator, lights, 12V accessory sockets, macerators, and pumps (except bilge). Anyone have any concerns about this? --- mike

    TomCat steering hydraulic fluid spray

Fellow TomCatters.... Back when I bought the TomCat, I remember one of you telling me to check behind the helm for hydraulic fluid. I did, and at the time I remember thinking that the angled area below the pump felt a just little greasy in one area, and the floor of that hidden space below...

    TomCat Bilge Alarm?

That's where my outboard panel is. I looked in your album to see if there was a shot of your throttles hoping to see the alarm panel, but then I stumbled across your flooring shot. Man, that's totally awesome! Do you know what flooring they used? There I go hijacking my own thread...

    TomCat Bilge Alarm?

Hello to all. I was just looking at the TomCat wiring diagram, and I noticed that it shows a bilge alarm. But I don't think my boat has it. Or if it does, I have never seen it. Do any of you TomCat Owners have this installed? --- mike

What's A Good Helm Replacement Seat?

Wow what a pain. Would you say that the seat as well made, but that the mount was poorly made? Did you abandon the slider because of the shoddy workmanship? I ask because it may be worth working through the mount problems in order to get a high quality seat in matching Sunbrella. Perhaps...
