    Flushing Techniques

Just wanted to point out this thread is 15 years old. Engines have probably changed some in that time. 8) That being said, I would think one could hook a hose up to the flushing attachment and flush the engine with fresh water. If left down, the lower unit would still be in salt water, but...

    Pictures not showing up

I too am very proud of this site. Both DaNag and Tyboo put a lot of time into keeping it going, and I very much appreciate it. I'm sure some hair loss has been involved! Colby

    Charging issues

I’m hesitant to reply on many electrical questions because without knowing how the boat is wired or a specific schematic, there really is no way of knowing. Too many boats, particularly used, are wired differently by their past and current owners and I’m not so sure even the manufacturers wire...

    Charging issues

On mine there is no switch at the helm. If the main battery switch is on, there is 12vt power to the refrigerator. It is then turned on or off at the refrigerators temperature rheostat on the front upper face of the frig. Colby

    Guest Chargers

Hi Dave, If the red and green light on, that means it's finishing a charge. This from the manual: When both the green and the red LED’s are on, it is charging at the "Finishing" rate. (stage 2). During this second charging stage, the charger holds the battery voltage at approximately 14.3...

    Guest Chargers

FWIW, I put a Mastervolt charger in my 25 right after purchasing the boat. It only lasted 3 seasons, and then started working intermittently. I finally gave up on it, and purchased a new one, same model, last year. Tom may have a point... I did pull it apart before trashing it, and didn't...

16 foot Jon Boat attempts the Great loop speed record.

I think a few are missing the point. That is the scenery if you are in a hurry just to make a record! If you want to race, go find a race to participate in. I look at the Great Loop, the Inside Passage, the PNW, as beautiful places to enjoy nature and scenery. Or to meet people from other...

16 foot Jon Boat attempts the Great loop speed record.

Trip Smith posted on facebook about this guy and his trip. Some pretty good info. But what I got out of it, is even Trip thinks this guy is operating somewhat dangerously. (Although he still wishes this guy a lot of luck and thinks he is having the time of his life....and Trip admitted to not...

Carbs or EFI? I also voted with running rich. If Carbs, probably need to adjust those.

Rub rail - slit behind rail

I did get a return call from Greg at NWMI this morning. He said he would have recommended exactly what I did. That is to use the machine screws and nuts. He said that when they took over in 2009, that they started using screws to attach the rub rails and then put some extra fiberglass over the...

C-Dory 25 Cruiser - Real World Engine Upgrade Options

I've been quite happy with my Yamaha F150 four stroke EFI. That being said, if and when I repower, I think I'd like to stay with Yamaha so I don't have to change out all my digital gauges. Seems pretty easy to find Yamaha shops as well. And if a 175 existed, I might be interested. However I'm...

    Charging issues

Hi Donald, Hard for me to follow all the electrical talk, as each boat seems to have it's own system. And the only way to know anything for sure, is to know how the batteries are hooked up. IE, an electrical schematic showing how the batteries are wired to the charger, and how they are wired...

Rub rail - slit behind rail

I was not able to find any tufgel at Ace, Menards or Farm and Fleet. I thought about using some dielectric grease, and forgot to, instead using the 4000 sealant. I debated on using aluminum pop rivets, but know those are not as strong as stainless steel. SS rivets of that size (1/4") would be a...

Rub rail - slit behind rail

Finished up reinstalling my rubrail today. I ended up using ss machine screws, washers and nylon lock nuts. 1/4 x 20 x 1 1/4". Here's some photos of the job. First two photos of the rub rail with the rubber insert removed, where you can see the majority of the rivet heads were popped off...
