Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

Ron - thanks ever so much for all the info and pictures. Were it not for helpful folks like you on this site, I don't have a clue as to how I'd get the information I needed. I'll do a bit of research to see if 5200 will bond to aluminum. If it does, I'll go with L shaped aluminum angle...

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

Ron, From your picture I can see the screws going into the bracket and then into the bottom of the hatch cover. Did you use adhesive as well? Do the screws hold adequately or do they go all the way through and into some type of fastener on the top of the hatch. Thanks, Bill

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

Finally we've returned to the Bay (after the November accident) and all the repairs, to the boat, the trailer, and getting a new motor. Splashed in yesterday & had a great cruise up the South River to the Bay, then to Back Creek in Annapolis, & finally up the Severn River to it's headwaters...

Significant water under cockpit floor on 07 CD-25: Normal ?

Just washing the cockpit floor while on the trailer last night caused a substantial amount of water to enter the space under the cockpit floor. Prior to the washing I made sure the floor hatches were properly fastened and they seemed tight. There was enough water to keep the bilge pump...

    Contacting C-Brats

I guess I just live right since the e-mail option has always(to my knowledge) worked correctly for me. Bill.Secure Edgewater, MD

    Boat Use

The observation is certainly correct. Many boats look as if they are never used. The first reason to come to mind is boat owners getting tired of traversing the same waters. It was to have variety that we purchased (last November) a boat that could easily and quickly both move around the...

Towing with motor up or down

If the motor is an "up" position, one possibility is that if you are rear ended while towing (as I was... see "It shouldn't happen to a dog"), the prop can go through the windshield and severely injure or kill the front seat occupants of the offending vehicle. It would have done so in this...

Adding additional tail, brake & signaling lights

With my CD-25 and trailer shortly to be released from their respective repair shops (see post "It shouldn't happen to a dog ..." for details), I've been looking at ways to improve the rear visibility of the boat and trailer. Eye level lighting would be a major safety enhancement. Because...

    Da plug--inny or outy

Is the plug in question what I see as a threaded brass plug on the bottom of my transom (and screwed in from outside)? This is on a 2007 CD-25. If so, should I remove the brass plug and instead be using the type of plug(s) cited earlier in this thread? Thanks, Bill

    Serious Fungus

I've successfully and without that much effort repeatedly removed dark spots from the inside of ice chests and white plastic buckets. Once they are gone, they don't return. I don't know whether I actually removed them or they simply oxidized to a non-visible appearance. I used a solution...

    How strong are they?

After reading this somewhat older thread and mentioning it to Lynda, she pointed out another possible consideration. Having just been rear ended with the motor down (normal operating position) and the lower unit severed from the top half of the unit, it made me wish I'd had it in a raised...

    It shouldn't happen to a dog ...

I don't yet know what happened to the other driver. He had no license, no ID of any type and theoretically could not speak English. I don't know if he returned to the police station the next day when they had an interpreter available. I will be very surprised if a) he showed up; or b) if...

    It shouldn't happen to a dog ...

Two different auto body shops have looked at the hitch and the frame of the truck. Neither thinks there is a problem nor do either of them believe that the three to four hours of labor (and the associated cost) necessary to completely measure the truck frame is justified. Both shops said...

    It shouldn't happen to a dog ...

I picked up my new 2007 CD-25 exactly two weeks ago at Cutter Marine in Baltimore. This past Monday afternoon on the way back from having the trailer fitted to the boat, I was "rear ended" after I had stopped at a red light prior to making a left turn. The driver of the offending vehicle...

CD-25 on a trailer - an oversized load at 102" wide?

I just stumbled on regulations that seem to imply my brand new 2007 CD-25 is wider than permitted for normal road travel. Neither the C-Dory dealer nor the trailer dealer had indicated there might be a problem and both knew my plans included trailering throughout the United States and probably...

Cabin Drain Pump and Bilge Pump

When we picked up our 2007 CD-25 this past Thursday, I thought I remember being told that these pumps will come on regardless of their rocker switch positions. Empirically, turning them on via the rocker switches causes them to run continually, even when bone dry. Page 22 (revised 5/23/2006)...
