I can answer the weight part. I have a 75 lb trolling motor and an 80 pound life raft on the bow of my boat. I would say the weight actually helps handling, planing and keeping the cockpit scuppers slightly drier.

Trailering on the TomCat is done with the engines in the down position due to height of skegs above ground. There is no need for a transom saver. The load is as shear as it's going to get, not tension.

I think you'll really like that engine choice. I have an old 2 stroke 25 horse mercury on mine and it absolutely rips. I use it to tow kids around the lake. Everyone including myself are always surprised at how powerful that setup is.

I've been struggling with this as well. I've moved my transducer a bit deeper, but after more consideration, I think it was a mistake to mount the transducer inboard of the drain plug. I believe mounting it outboard of the drain plug would have been a better bet by getting less turbulent water...
