Jeep Gladiator as tow vehicle for C-Dory 22 Cruiser

I’d be more concerned with tongue weight contributing to max capacity for the vehicle if you are loaded for travel and have passengers. How much can you put in those jeeps?

    Here They Come

Oh theres no doubt electric can push fast! They just cant, as far as I know, do it for 150 miles in a 22 foot boat without charging for days. Or maybe they can? Its been two years since I seriously looked and tech moves fast.

    Here They Come

“New means death of old which causes fear for some. “ Absolutely agree. This is happening in the boat world with regards to electric motors but in the cdory world its probably less fearful and more just not wanting a less capable machine. I have seriously considered going electric, and the...

    Here They Come

I asked about electric motor range and one manufacturer told me consumers have “range anxiety”. I was put off by that, as surely theres an over the counter prescription for that in 2022. could they not just sell me the motors with extra batteries? Indeed they can. With an extra 4-6 feet of...

Fuse locations for removable solar and inverter

No MPPT, the panels have PWM hardwired in and it didnt seem cost efficient to swap it out given the higher temps we often run in and relatively small (1-2 battery) banks we attach it to. If We (when we…) go lithium we’ll likely oversize the panels and use an mppt controller. For now though its...

Fuse locations for removable solar and inverter

Boat/rv/truck portable solar setup Could use a little help! Safety check. I have 2 x 100ah AGM batteries to be charged exclusively by a 130watt suitcase style solar panel. I’ve wired a 10 amp inline fuse on the positive side of the cables from the panel and this cable will connect to the...

    Engine Help

I want to clarify the thermostat comments i made pre-coffee. Your thermostat is unlikely to be allowing water in through leakage, but it is possible it is failed in the open position. This would be an easy and relatively inexpensive fix. If you have trouble locating thermostats I have twin...

    Engine Help

Sounds like water in the oil. Thermostat, head gasket. I’d cross my fingers and check to make sure theres not some thermostat hanging half out or something goofy. Is there oil on the surface of the motor anywhere? Some gasket or part designed to keep water OUT has likely failed.

    Single burner alcohol stove recommendation

Well i just, because i’m sort of obsessive about my coffee and safety, decided to test a renogy 2k watt inverter with a 100ah AGM and my electric kettle. Total success. 8-9amp 120v draw through the inverter and cooling fans did kick in but no excessive cable heat (slightly warm to the touch)...

Thanks for all the replies! We’ve had trouble locating Butane on multiple occasions now, and would like to get away from compressed fuels indoors as well as disposable containers and poor cold weather performance. Definitely looking for alcohol stoves. It looks like the Origo is a winner but...

    Single burner alcohol stove recommendation

Well 4 nights of cooking over a fire resulted in great trout tacos on Lake Chelan, but when you live in a wildfire area you sometimes want hot coffee in the morning and dinner at night without smelling like death and destruction. Our enjoyable campfire days are over until the snow falls! Day...

    16 vs 19 vs 22

As far as singlehand operation of a 22: dont worry, you sound like you have more water experience in one arm than I ever had before buying a 22. I make mistakes often, and still manage to get the boat to the dock. I have found it not to be a matter of “can I learn to dock this boat” but more...
