Trade Dory for ATV? Coming ready or not (lake Powell)

I have considered a Beach launch extension bar for low water river and lake launches. I cant answer any Powell questions, but I live for Fall. Desert, mountain, northern coastal. As a linguistics professor once described it to me: “the air is sweet and cool and Everything is dying all around...

What's Seattle really like these days?

From the first post: “Last time I was even in the Seattle area was 12-13 years ago”. I think there’s your first step. Fly to Seatac, use public transit to get around and see how you like it. I cant comment on what’s relative to your DC metro experience because I am not a city person. I...

    iPad info

I have a full sized ipad with navionics. Navionics is new to me but I have been using onx and other land based gps mapping for a few years with apple phones and ipads. Love the mini but for navigation on a boat it is too small for my terrible vision. You absolutely need a cellular capable...

    vaccination

This does not surprise me at all, as a recovering Texan. The general media portrayal of Texas is usually one reflecting extreme conservativism, backwards ways of living, and the same general “dumb country people” image usually projected on the rest of the rural West gets painted across that...

    Your choice of boat?

Got to take a ride in a 21 ranger, and i loved that boat. I still do. The diesel, the aesthetics, it’s just a FUN boat to dink around in. I bought a c dory. Towable expedition boat: “what could be more fun than that!?” I asked myself. Nothing. Nothing for me! What do you want to do on...

    Boating at night

That would definitely be excessive for my needs. Pretty hard to beat the price of staying home when its nasty, and having the family lean out the sides with flashlights for docking! 😂

    Boating at night

Bear in mind I am new to this... I have put myself in the middle of lake chop at night a few times now under controlled conditions to see how disorienting it is to navigate using my eyes alone. Conclusion: in any kind of Nasty sea state without instruments i would be up on rocks or taking water...

    Eco boost

😂 That all sounds like what we do for deer mice, but i took the last two pack rats with a 5 iron and a maglite. Coyotes, hawks, bald eagles, owls, cougars, wolves, and a highway pretty much put the expected life of a barn cat at about a week. Looking into the squirrelinator as it seems Just...

    Eco boost

2018 expedition with the ten speed here. 52k miles. No problems aside from the pack rat eating the 4x4 wiring problem. Grrrrr. Have towed close to 6k with it and it feels heavy. 22ft cruiser pulls easy over north cascade hwy and local hills. I suspect it will pull 9k all day long, but I...

    05/13 - 05/16 - Friday Harbor CBGT 2021

We’re in the yes if it’s safe category. Would like to continue avoiding areas as heavily populated/travelled as the San Juans until the majority of Washington is vaccinated. If we can pull that off by spring we’re in. My Crystal ball is fogged up! Probably not real crystal, probably some...

    Ditch Bag Inventory

Wait. So the Binkey in my ditch bag is not manly? Guess I need a more masculine saddle. My plan was to ride an Orca back to the dock but without my Binkey I guess I’ll just die. It’s not really a Binkey though, it’s a woobie. Maybe theres some leeway there. I notice that everyone’s ditch...

Location of Electric over Hydraulic Actuator

Thank you Bob. One more data point in my calculated risk index for that day I find a ramp that will submerge my EOH unit.

Location of Electric over Hydraulic Actuator

I put that same hydrastar unit on my trailer but mounted it low. Has anybody Here toasted one? Seems like the brain of the operation is mostly up in the cab and it would fry a fuse and maybe the battery charger. PITA to make it right I have no doubt, but does anyone have first hand experience...

    Southeast Alaska Charts Wanted

 I feel like I should be doing ethnographic research into this c brat culture. I think I am generally An adventurous person sometimes, until I sit down to casually read a thread on paper charts and gps and it takes me to the deck of a boat holding a road map in pre-war Yugoslavia.

Any deer hunters here? If so, please be careful.

Pre 74 Colorado Muley hunting! Don’t rub it in any further please. Certain I could learn a thing or two from both of you. If only I could find those abundant elk...not that Sequim town herd or that Colockum unicorn hunt either. I’ll pack meat as far as either of you wants to shoot it from a...

Any deer hunters here? If so, please be careful.

Hahaha! Whenever i see my neighbors in town we roll down the window and accuse them of cruising for deer. You gotta laugh about it, life is absurd anyway! I dont have time for your ridicule though i have to go burn some trash: it’s date night.

Any deer hunters here? If so, please be careful.

Yeah I wasnt joking! we pull deer off the highway a couple times a year and split it with a few neighbors. After you claim it you can get a tag from the WDFW website and print it at home; keep it with the meat. I havent used a butcher for a deer, just do the best I can to get all the useable...

Any deer hunters here? If so, please be careful.

Thats a good way to do it if you like good lean wild game meat. I dont believe it is legal in Washington state unless it comes from one of the tribal shops.
