    Power inverter

I believe your meter is most likely not a true RMS meter and taking an improperly calibrated reading on the modified sine wave inverter. If you could borrow a TRMS meter and test the AC output of the inverter it would tell you if your inverter is working. If my first guess is correct then...

    Power inverter

Sorry triple posting... what I’m asking is: is your inverter a modified sine inverter, and is your meter a true RMS meter? If yes to modified sine, is the new stove compatible?

    Power inverter

I hope this is the right link, and not the scene from point break that I sent to my buddy earlier ... https://youtu.be/PHixK2d_uZU

    Power inverter

Without seeing your wiring, I suspect your inverter is fine and you are using an inexpensive multimeter to take the reading? Is the inverter a modified sine ? Correction: you could be using an expensive multimeter that is not a true RMS meter, and not get an accurate reading on a modified sine...

    Throwraft has anybody tried one?

John: Despite the cost of the throw stick or despite the cost of getting to Hontoon island from Eastern Washington? I think I could “fall” in near Friday harbor and test Harvey’s and save us both some cash. I would like to see That part of the country though. Maybe hang on to that offer a...

wintering below freezing on the water

https://kozi.com/boat-sinks-to-the-bott ... ke-chelan/ I’m just gonna park this here humbly and not over-comment; thereby jinxing myself. We’re still floating and enjoying snowy rides around the lower half of the lake. I will attempt to find out who owns this boat and see where exactly the...

    Throwraft has anybody tried one?

I just did a full update of pfds and grabbed two mustang hydrostatics for 200$ each. Today I looked and they are around 230$ on the mega web vendors. Early Birthday? Also I have been wearing a hybrid manual inflatable around the icy docks this winter and it has been fantastic (mustang...

    For those who like Ethanol

This reminds me of years ago working a cathodic protection job at a refinery in Ferndale. I asked where the fuel goes and the crew said Alaska. Well where did the raw product come from? Alaska. Later that year in Bellingham on a gas station tank project I asked the owner where his gas came...

    For those who like Ethanol

I am currently watching my kids play in the snow and sit next to a large raging outdoor fire. I just blew off about 100 rifle rounds in about 100 seconds. My neighbors are going to blow off some mortars later because it’s Monday and they feel like it. I have three ethanol free gas sources...

    Postponed - 05/14 - 05/17 - 2020 Friday Harbor CBGT

Looking forward to meeting more c-brats! Miss Maria (22’) will be there Thursday-Sunday, with 4 onboard. Power would be great if available (because we are crock pot in the trunk people haha). Chips and queso and other Texas snacks could happen if anyone is into that. I’m a sommelier trained...

Portable Stoves - What do you use?

I somehow missed your comment on preferring ethanol. Apologies For my hasty post!

Portable Stoves - What do you use?

HEET fuel line antifreeze in the yellow bottle is commonly used by light and fast backcountry travelers in alcohol/spirit stoves. It is I believe 100% methyl and available at nearly any gas station, feed store, hardware store, auto supply shop, and grocery store in the northern half of the...

Sea Lions Relaxing on a Sail Boat in Puget Sound

I just figured it was WDFW relocating salmon predators.

That IS funny, and very true. I will probably feel safer in ths San Juans; especially with the crutch of more capable men and women to lean into.

    young child's immersion suit

We have a raft on the roof and the dry suit goes on before I set foot on the dock/riverbank in cold weather. Same for kids pfds in any weather. I agree emergencies are generally fast and furious and anything meant to save you in cold water conditions should be worn at all times. Safety gear...

    young child's immersion suit

Just curious about what you found and are using? For myself in cold water conditions I have a mustang dry suit and hybrid pfd. I prefer this combination over bulky survival suits because I can use it for paddling, and climb around on things in it. My mobility is excellent compared to heavy...

I think My wife and I are in that “younger” category... Harvey is too polite and it will backfire on him when I mean to call him experienced but say “older”. 😂. You know my family loves you Harvey. Can’t wait for May! Hope to meet some other newbies on the water

    Fuel additives

I do the exact same with my stihl saw in summer: trufuel for the last fill up in spring and run it dry for the fire season. Before I started doing this I blew carbs and gummed up parts and seemed like I had two saws on constant repair rotation. Now just one saw and it fires up every time...
