    Big Changes Coming

The Red boat is doing great. Just brought it home from Bitter End Boatworks with first time bottom paint, so no more scraping barnacles. Any regrets should be relieved, knowing that we were allowed one of the best investments of our lives. Sounds like you just made another great investment...

    Helm chair for tomcat

On our 22 cruiser I installed this seat at the Helm. https://tempress.com/store/ProBax-Ortho ... -p95075250 I liked it so much that I installed 2 more. No armrests, but a huge improvement over the original seats. You can see more photos in our album on third page. These are a good quality for...

    12 volts battery issue

My son's subaru will drain the battery in a short time if the keys are left in the ignition and that is with the keys just inserted and not turning them at all.

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

Our 2004 Honda 90HP had relatively low hours, but was starting to have some corrosion issues. We did not want to have problems while cruising hundreds of miles from home, so we decided to repower while we could still get something for the Honda on trade. While another Honda would probably have...

    We're back

Big thanks to Both Will and Tyboo. This site is a great resource not only to C-Dory owners, but to all boaters. Our tip is in the jar.

    Disc brake pad failure.

I have experienced the same thing. A few years ago I had a local shop replace the brake calipers and pads because I was recovering from some surgery. When I recently serviced the bearings I found that a pad was missing. when I inspected the other pads I found a couple more that separated by...

    Brakes versus Salt Water

In my Experience with salt water trailers it seems that once they are dipped in the salt they begin self destructing. you can slow it down by fresh water rinse and salt away and it is best to do so. Another step that I have found to be helpful is to take the trailer for a drive after rinsing and...

Cushion / Padding Around V-Berth Entrance

I purchased some half inch closed cell foam with a self adhesive backing off of ebay and stuck it in places where I bumped my head in the v-birth. It has saved a few headaches

    Edmonds Area 10 Coho

At Sekiu the last couple days we have had to release 14 or 15 wild coho to get 4 hatchery. It is terribly hard work.

    Fuel filter water separator

I always coat the o rings with 90wt oil before installation and hand tighten. I have not had problems with removing the cartridge or plastic bowl. After purchasing the boat the first time I changed it was a b****, but not since. That said, I do carry a spare bowl and cartridge.

Down-rigger response time and longer boats.

Your gonna miss some no matter how close to the rods you are. That's why they call it "fishing" not "catching". You will miss more of them when you are fishing 150' deep Like Gary said, start reeling as fast as you can before taking pole out of holder. until the line tightens up then pull the...

Sealing Thru-hull fasterners in fiberglass over wood

I have built a couple of drift boats. The first was a Don Hill 16' McKenzie river double ender with transom. The second was a 16' McKenzie river Square Ender AKA (Rapid Robert). The later can be seen in Roger Fletcher's book "Drift Boats and River Dories". My advise would be to get rid of the...

    Princess Louisa Cruise Help

Some long days on the water and not likely that you will be able to maintain full speed for the entire route. Not everyone has the time, but it would be good to allow more time to make it more enjoyable. You should call and double check that eggmont has fuel before passing up fuel at Pender...
