New Member-Looking for Storage Ideas 22’

The only time I have had issues with the cabin air from combustion is when using a Little Buddy propane heater. The air quality degrades if there is inadequate ventilation. Being in the closed cabin even when sleeping, I have never noticed a problem with CO2.

New Member-Looking for Storage Ideas 22’

I use butane stoves on my 22. I have two of two different sizes. One or the other or both can be used as needed. I have a tabletop that goes across the back of the cockpit so I can cook outside if the weather allows it. I removed the original stove and replaced it with a countertop. I took the...

    Vberth Insulation

They are Vetus ports. Vetus has changed the numbers since I put mine in, but they are very similar to the current PM aluminum series. Basically you need the smallest oval one. Because the berth trunk is curved, a port that is too long will not sit properly. If you go with the round ports you can...

    Vberth Insulation

I also installed opening ports for the berth on my boat. Improves the ventilation a lot.

    Vberth Insulation

I used similar stuff in a van I'm converting except it has foil on the inside (non adhesive side). I haven't had a chance to test out the insulating properties yet. However, the adhesive is quite sticky. Make sure you've got it in the correct position when you install it. You'll likely destroy...

    Replacing AFT Cockpit Sole Hatches

When I bought my Imtra hatches they were available in an off-white color that matched well with the "white" gelcoat of my 22.

    Replacing AFT Cockpit Sole Hatches

Don't know about the 25 but on the 22s most people use Imtra 4000 series hatches. On these hatches, the hatch itself extends over the lip of the hatch coaming. This helps keep water out of the gap at the lip. Water tightness is less reliant on the seal. On the 22, one model of the Imtra hatch is...

    Refrigerator install

22s typically came with a 20gal water tank under the rear most dinette seat. The tank is sized to fit that space. Fill for the tank is located on the gunwhale just outside.

    Refrigerator install

Yes, there are a number of rotomolded poly tanks that will fit in the bow compartment of a CD22. However, none of them are an exact fit. Building a structure to support and secure a tank in the forward compartment under the berth will be tedious at best unless there is already a tank that fits...

    Refrigerator install

I have a CD22 and have been thinking of putting a water tank under the V-berth. My boat had a 20 gal tank under the aft dinette seat, but that space is better for storage than a water tank. so I took it out. The problem is finding a tank that will fit well in the bow compartment. So I was...

    Sharrow prop

The toroidal propeller was invented in the 1890s. If they are as great as they are made out to be, why aren't they more common?

    Sharrow prop

From what I read, the Sharrow prop can provide some benefit in mid RPM ranges. However, for most users, the ROI takes a very long time. IME, the shoal depth of the C-Dory encourages getting the boat into situations where other boats will not go. Sometimes this doesn't work out as well as one...

High Moisture Readings on a Survey

I was not aware that C-Dorys had stringers. Maybe the 25 has them, but I haven't found any in my 22.

    Dangling Rope Marina

A couple of the marinas on Lake Mead have also closed or relocated due to low water levels in the last several years.

    Member Location

There is the "members map" that shows locations. However, it does seem to have errors. The location it gives for me is in the wrong state and somewhere that I have never been.

    Refrigerator

My boat came with a Norcold AC/DC refrigerator. Runs off the battery when shore power is not available. Draws about 3 amps at 12V when the compressor is running. No problems with it for 17 years.

    Cockpit Step

Maybe it depends on the year of the boat, but on my '08 CD22, I wouldn't trust the structure there to hold a person's weight if the step is used a lot. My boat has the insert bins and the piece of FG they insert into is not that thick.

    My 22 with a Honda BF90D uses a 13.5 x 15 prop. Part number is 58130-ZW1-015AH. https://www.boats.net/product/honda/58130-ZW1-015AH

    Getting Fuel Tank Tested

I don't know what the coefficient of expansion is for FG, but it is not zero. Depends on the type of FG and how it is structured.
