I never have my top up because I mostly use the boat for fishing. But if it is raining really hard we will put the top part up but not attach the back supports. We just use bungee cords so if we get a fish on we can flip it forward.

Try and get a twin cylinder, I hate the vibration from the single cylinder motors. I think one manufacturer makes an 8hp twin, but most you have to go to 9.9 to get a twin.

I have used a Blackberry, it is a piece of junk compared to an iPhone. I am not saying iPhones are perfect, but as far as smart phones nothing touches it.
