What would you like to see on the new C-Ranger R25 tug?

Having spent a great deal of time on my buddys' 24' Murphy Alaskan trader over the last two yrs I have a couple of observations. Overall interior is very well laid out. Swim step is a big plus. Nice place to stash a cooler when fishing or cruising. The walk thru to the swim step is another...

Please post times and locations for the gathering for those of us that are still out of the loop. My apologies for showing my ignorance. Just landed back at home after the last two weeks in the desert. CENTCOMS computer gurus have deemed this an internet chat site which meens I have no access...

1985 Evenrude 50 HP VRO Fuel Mix

Patrick, From what I've read on other sites It's not uncommon for the early VRO pumps to fail. A Lot of guys just bypass / disconnect them and go with a straight 50:1 premix. My 84 Evinrude is pre VRO and uses a 50:1 mix. Norm

    New TomCat 25

If anyone is looking for divers to test a TC25 we are on! Say the word! Will get wet anywhere anytime. I would jazz over the opportunity to get wet from a boat that I can only dream about. Norm

    Smoking on a C-Dory

Ok I'm gonna put my 2cents worth on this at the peril of ticking a few people off. My wife and I smoke. We make a consorted effort to not offend those around us. I can understand those that say they are bothered by "second hand smoke" . My issue is the large number of people that claim an...

    batteries/winter

Several yrs ago at an aircraft maintenance seminar I had the opportunity to talk with the rep from one of the aircraft battery manufacturers. His take was that if you kept a battery "topped off" you could up to triple its' life. I have used the solar chargers where a plug in was not available...

    Window Frame Paint Advice

A buddy of mine just went through this on his sailboat. There are 2 ways to handle this. 1. Remove the windows and take them to a place that can strip, re-anodize and powder coat them. It's not gonna be cheap but it is a fix that will probably outlast the rest of the boat. 2. Paint them...

    Byrdman's CD18

Mike, Much thanks!!!! While I enjoy every post that I read on this site I will admit that I have longed for the specific trade of mods and info that the 22s and more recently the 25s share. Some of the stuff is generic and can be adapted to any size boat. A lot of that other stuff has to be...

    Dumb Moves

2 yrs ago at seafair I was diving from my buddies Alaskan Trader mini tug. We had tied a loop of line from the top cabin rail to use as a handhold when climbing up the ladder. I was climbing up the ladder and spotted the rope out of the corner of my eye (reduced periferal vision with a mask...

    Byrdman's CD18

Byrdman, Just figured out also we may own the rarest of the C-Dorys. Another post said there were 20 some 27s built. We don't have an exact history on the 18s but yours is just about a year older than mine and only 2 #s later. Obviosly they were not building very many a yr. Norm

    Byrdman's CD18

Byrdman, probably better that you were closer and quicker than me or I would have had another 18. About the bulkhead... If you are not in a screaming hurry, I was planning to unscrew mine in the not too distant future to measure up for a new one. The fake teak on mine was pretty hammered. I...

    SOLD>>1985 18' W/B, $4000 (St.Pete, FL)

JT, I haven't weighed my 18 yet. Another of those things I just haven't gotten around to. I tow mine with a Dodge Dakota with the V6. Seems to be quite adequate. I would expect that weight is just a bit less than the current 19 (1 ft shorter and about 6 inches less beam). Norm

    SOLD>>1985 18' W/B, $4000 (St.Pete, FL)

Also noticed from the pictures that Bobbies boat does not have the cabin bulkhead like mine. It appears to be open at the back like the current 16s and 19s. Norm

    SOLD>>1985 18' W/B, $4000 (St.Pete, FL)

C Dory did make an 18 during the mid 80s. Until Bobbies' showed up mine was the only one I had ever seen. Mine is an 84, Bobbie says hers is an 85. I don't know the code on the HINs but mine is MFN18012F484 (maybe#12 ????) No idea how many were built or for how long. Norm

:D way kewl! Thank you much....Don't mind a bit being grouped with the "others". My dream is to someday find a 26 or 27 that I can afford. So I can just stay in the other category. Norm
