    Permatrim

I too wouldn’t want to be without trim tabs. To offset the stern heavy characteristics of the 19; I put appx 100 lbs of lead under the anchor rode & a group 30 aux battery in v berth storage. Works great & I don’t need to use both permatrim & trim tabs to lift the stern, just permatrim.

    Permatrim

Hi Richard. I put on permatrim right after I bought the boat before I even used it. Trim tabs only used to level the boat side to side otherwise they are always fully retracted & trim the bow with permatrim. Like everyone else, can’t say anything bad about it. Wouldn’t go with anything but...

Benefits of hydraulic steering on a 16 angler?

My 19 had cable steering when I bought it. Switched to hydraulic with a suicide knob on the wheel. Far easier to steer. I would never go back to cable!!

Can't work on the boat this morning because of newborn

Nothing cuter in the world than a baby, no matter the species!!! I’m in love!! No better reason to postpone work on the boat or a fishing trip. Babies...what more can I say!!!

    Worry Box Question

Iodine...iodine? What’s this iodine business? Never heard anything about iodine. Never been the brightest bulb in the package, but, iodine??? Clue me in please! What’s that do?

    Parking Security

I have no worries about the boat & trailer. They are always out of the way hidden behind the house, and we live out of town & cant be seen. The launch ramp is a busy place, patrolled (so they say) with lots of other trailers. My problem is my wife uses the tow vehicle to pull her horse trailer &...

    Out dated Flares

what to do with unused flares? CHP puts a bunch at every accident & leave them then traffic runs over remaining unignighted flares & the rain washes the residue off into the redwoods!! Good idea!!!!!

    Hatch pic

Richard. I just love those hairless cats. She must have really long back legs to get up that high!! Our jack russel just hated the boat. Not going to try the new 75lb Shepard tho. Hate to have to clean up those football size turds off a nonskid deck!!!

Possible Areas for Hull Water Entry

In the v berth area you can see the bumps where the rub rail rivets were covered I assume for aesthetic reasons but your right, water can come in wherever they weren’t sealed & there was no reason to cover what can’t be seen or are not accessible as are the ones under the windows & in the aft...

Possible Areas for Hull Water Entry

Richard. What is the LB? The comment about dark brown water makes me think it’s been sitting around somewhere & slowly percolating back into the v berth storage compartment. When I had my water in the berth problem I noticed some dampness under the foam flotation aft of the v storage.possibly...

    A cautionary tale

Mmmm, table saw here!! Shortened two fingers by one joint, broke tip bone of the third & filleted the thumb, all in the blink of an eye. Shortened my rock climbing hobby as that was my primary holding on hand as I searched through my hardware sling with my right. Losing two soft pads brought that...

    transom mounted live bait bag

Richard. Your right, everybody but me refer to it as a kicker but as I said, my 70 hp main trolls fine so I only use my 9.9 hi thrust to get home. Only had one problem with the main since 2008 & that was due to those leaky hatch covers that Cdory cheaped out on when my boat was built, meant for...

    transom mounted live bait bag

Guess you didn’t get or read my email response. Trim tabs are only for side to side equalization or to compensate for a heavy/overloaded stern. I have permatrim on my main & it works great. I only use trim tabs for lateral trim, the permatrim pulls the down for chop. I don’t call my 9.9 a...

    transom mounted live bait bag

19s are stern heavy, a design flaw. With the main, the aux get home motor, two fuel tanks, two batteries + I have trim tab pump and reservoir, raw water wash down pump. I removed the live tank the boat came with & added about 100 lbs of lead ingots under my anchor rode to help offset the bow high...

    Brakes lock up when backing

I switched from drums to kodiac disc brakes & new surge brake. First thing I noticed was the trailer wheels locking up in reverse. I've read that the reverse solinoid lockout fails regularly. I just drilled a hole thru the surge brake & put in a lockout pin when I back up, problem solved..forever!

    few questions about my 19

Richard. The 19 is a sweetheart of a boat! I, for 1,would never go longer or shorter. She is just right for me! I fish, don't cruise, day trips only. The only thing I wish I had would be a larger motor. I have a 70. The only time I wish for bigger is in a following sea as I don't have the power...
