    Liability query

Thank you kids! Looks like I'll have to have my smarter half study the insurance fine print as it seems the answer is kind of 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. I have always carried a tow rope & bridle as I have been there myself. In my area I have seen many boats out that should have been...

    Liability query

A question for my fellow boat owners. I live near the economically depressed town of crescent city in northern Calif. I often feel like the target of people who don't own a boat but would really like to know someone who owns a boat.Yesterday I came upon a nice fellow with a 22 c dory out in the...

Best choice for "Get Home" kicker for 25 cruiser?

I agree with Dr Bob. I use a Yamaha 9.9 high thrust for an auxiliary/get home motor mounted on the spring loaded garlick mount. Perfect!

    Single 60hp on a 22 Cruiser?

I bought my 19 2nd hand with a Suzuki 70.. I feel the boat is slightly underpowered especially in a following sea, then it's quit a slug. Id much rather an 80 pr 90 in that situation except for the transom weight concerns with the 19's,other than that the 70 is fine. I can't imagine I could ever...

    Trailer can't back...

I changed my Titan trailer from drum to kodiac disc brakes & lnstalled a new Titan surge coupler. It wasn't long before the trailer wheels locked up in reverse. Don't remember where I read it but the thread said the reverse actuator burns out on a regular basis so I just drilled a hole through...

Simple trailer jack and spare tire storage

My 19 came with 2 spares mounted vertically on each side. I only trailer 13 miles from Hiouchi to crescent city & didn't see a need for two spares always in my way. I laid one horizontally just aft of the winch station with a u bolt around a cross member & I carry a chunk of 4x4 and a bottle...

    Flush the engines

Mike, your right, there are no guarantees... But, a stitch in time could save 9! I've replaced all my internal anodes even tho the df70 wasn't one that was effected with the corrosion problems but, as a worrier, I paid a lot of attention to that concern as well.

    Flush the engines

I don't like motor problems of any kind. I flush with salt eliminator every time I use the boat. No exceptions!! Cheap easy insurance!!

Hating the Surge Brakes on King Trailer

I've had the same problem after changing from drum to kodiac disk brakes. It was fine the first few times then started locking up in reverse. I just drilled a hole through the surge coupler & lock it out with a 1/4" pin before backing.

How does this sound - fuel tank pump-out setup...

A very interesting thread Brats!! I've wanted to drain my tanks on several occasions also but stressed about just how to go about it. With the long hoses ,some distance & a separate remote battery makes me feel better. Thanks boys! Now, about the fuel pickup tubes in the tanks. When the tank is...

    Hello From Oregon

I would say that if you are going to do a lot of boat camping, go with the 22. I use my 19 strictly for fishing & the v berth for gear. I find the 16 too small for my taste & a lot local of sea conditions. True, many start with a 16 or 19 & move up to a 22 but there are some that start with a 22...

    How to crab info.

The reason for weight bars in crab pots in the open ocean is primarily to keep larger swells from lifting the buoys & pulling the pots off the bottom & out of the string. Commercial crabbers don't make money chasing stray pots all over the ocean. Minutes are money!! The pots will literally...

    Raising seats on 19 angler

Being a fairly small guy, I raised my front seats simply by drilling 2x4s, standing on edge. Has worked out well for me.

    Cabin vibrations...

Take a good look at the cabin side panel screw blocks that are glued to the underside of the deck. I found a few blocks had Brocken their bond with the deck & did some annoying vibrating against the underside of the deck at certain speeds. This was mentioned years ago by another 19' brat &...

    Kicker motor

Youbetcha, I wouldn't be caught on the ocean without another motor. I can't believe the junk people go out in that should not be on the water. Maybe it's from my old rock climbing days, redundancy is the key to survival!! Back up everything!! Every nickel I spent on that little 9.9 high thrust...
