    Honda 90 prop selection questions.

I don't have any specific prop numbers in mind, but stainless is three times stiffer than aluminum, if they're both the same thickness. And most stainless alloys are quite a bit stronger than most aluminum alloys. The prop manufacturers take advantage of the increased stiffness to allow them...

    Reposition batteries

I feel like my boat is somewhat stern heavy and I run with a fair amount of trim tab down. I've been thinking of moving my two batteries forward under the V-berth area, putting them in sealed boxes vented overboard. I saw this thread and I just did a couple quick calculations. (As an engineer...

    Lake Mohave Cruise Feb 12-16

Chris, I'm in. Hopefully all five days. Might miss Thursday. Thanks for getting this going. Jeff

    New C-Dory 22 in Annapolis

I'm a C-Dory owner from the San Diego area and it seems I'll be visiting Annapolis on business every couple months for the next year or so, maybe longer. I searched the C-Brat site for Annapolis and got a zillion hits. I'd like to make contact with an owner or two in the area and possibly pick...

    Focus

I'll put in my vote for trying to keep the site content C-Dory centered. That doesn't have to be elitist and it doesn't have to exclude people or postings. It just means we should keep a firm, steady, polite pressure in the direction of trying to keep the focus on C-Dory related topics and...

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Well, I don't guess I want to deliberately go out into small craft warnings. I'm now thinking of trailering up to Lake Silverwood tonight, fishing in the morning, and heading over to Santa Barbara on the trailer to join you guys and use my slip reservations for Friday and Saturday nights. I'd...

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

Santa Ana winds coming. Cooling first, then winds and warming. That's what I read. Does this mean we want to keep breakfast early and brief and get under way in a timely fashion? And I guess a tailwind coming home Sunday? Jeff

    Magma Grill Flame Tamer

I have the small round Magma on the C-Dory and the larger rectangular Catalina Magma on a sailboat and I hadn't noticed either of them being too hot at the low setting. I feel they both cook at a nice, controllable rate. Mine are between a year old and three years old. Maybe older models used to...

    January cruise in Lake Powell

Here's a web page http://lakepowell.water-data.com/index2.php with the 45 year averages for any day of the year. Water level, high temperature, water temperature, whatever. January looks darn cold to me. I'd say after October you wouldn't find me going there. Temperatures come up in the...

    10/10 - 10/12 - 6th Annual Santa Barbara Seafood Cruise

I'll bring a couple gallons of orange juice or OJ/Fruit Juice combination. Maybe three gallons. I'll think some more about the number of boats and people. Any recommendations? At the moment I'm guessing two gallons is sufficient. Jeff

    Baking on a Wallas

There have been some good discussions of baking on the Wallas. Do a search on "baking" and you'll find several, some with fairly recent posts. There's a BakePacker, a Cobb Grill, and some other methods. Jeff

    New Lobster Regulations for California

I agree that another $7.50 tax sucks. The logic about having to buy two per season is a little flawed, however. You buy one per year and it covers two separate "half seasons" = another way to look at it. The result is that if you're lobstering every year, you'll buy one $7.50...

    Delta 9# for a 22'

Something to consider when making changes in your setup is a possible changeover to the tilting bow roller assembly that Lewmar sells to go along with the Delta anchor design. The combination works extremely well. The anchor self-launches and self-stows very reliably. If I pay attention to not...

Roger, I looked on their website. I think you meant part number SPA-40155. Did you order from them directly? Jeff

    08/17 - 08/23 - 2008 Catalina Island Adventure in Paradise

Hi, I'll show up Monday evening later or early Tuesday and I need to leave Thursday evening. I was planning on Sunday through Wednesday, but there's an urgent task at work Monday for at least part of the day. No big deal. I'll still get to meet the group and spend some time at the island. I...

    08/17 - 08/23 - 2008 Catalina Island Adventure in Paradise

I'm a diver, too. Looks like we'll have enough divers to film a James Bond movie remake. Remember the underwater fight scenes? Spearguns, mini-subs, cutting air hoses with knives, etc? I believe my schedule is to be there four days, Sunday through Wednesday. Not likely I can stay for Thursday...

    Trim Tabs

I have the standard Bennet trim tabs the factory installs on my CD22. I have a Honda 90 and 9.9 and I find I run with the tabs down about 35 or 40% judging by the indicator, with some side to side variation depending on boat loading. Seems the boat makes the most MPH per RPM in that area, and...

    Garmin 4210 Plotter & GMR 18 HD

I don't understand your comment about the unit blocking your field of view. I put a 4212 in my CD22 and I used the bracket that came from Garmin. I put it right in front of the steering wheel on top of the console and it doesn't block my view at all. I'm 6'2" tall, which might make a difference...

    Nikon D60 owners?

Bob, Some thoughts: I think you slightly mis-read one or both of the two previous posts before you. The posts acknowledged that the polarizing filter effect cannot be done in post-processing. Once you've let the glare in and lost the detail, the game is over. Also, while it's true that adding...

    Nikon D60 owners?

A polarizing filter is a great accessory and you can't duplicate it in software after the shot. It can see through some window reflections and the reflective surface of the water and do some other enhancing. Be careful to get the right type. Read about them at dpreview.com or a similar review...
