    Radar - 18" vs 24"

I made a couple cardboard mockups and the difference between the 18" and 24" models is HUGE. A little math shows the volume is almost exactly double, considering the diameters and heights. That explains the way the models look. I checked with a couple friends at the local yacht club and they...

    Radar - 18" vs 24"

I found a LOT of old threads here on radar and read them all and learned some stuff. I'm about to buy a radar unit to go with my Garmin 4212 plotter screen. They make four versions now from about $1000 to about twice that. There's an 18" standard and a high-definition version, both having a 5...

    Running Wallas Underway?

Home Depot has them on sale online now for $47 for the basic model. $58.55 including tax and shipping to SoCal. It's shipping from Las Vegas. They have another model listed, but it's out of stock. Maybe it could be ordered, though. Jeff

    Running Wallas Underway?

In case anyone's interested, I made the following measurements tonight. I placed a small black anodized aluminum plate (about 2" square and about 1/16" thick) flat on top of the stove and measured its temperature using a handheld infrared thermometer. I had the stove running with the control...

    Running Wallas Underway?

I've been reading a bunch of the Wallas posts and haven't seen comments about using it underway. I assume it works that way or people would be commenting and there would have been warnings in the manual. I've just had mine running in the driveway a few times to check it out before taking it on...

09/15 - Lake Powell September Cruise

Oh yeah. I'll certainly be aiming for this one. Last year was GREAT. (I've been there other times, too, in previous boating lives.) Even though I only overlapped with the group for a couple days, it was still nice to see a few other C-Dories on the water. This year I'll try to match the timing...

    Wallas Yellow light in cooktop?

Yup, the light goes out after something like 45 minutes. I haven't checked the standby current drain with the light off. I still think I'll want a switch inline with the stove controller and battery, just to be sure.

    Wallas Yellow light in cooktop?

I ordered a Wallas for my CD22 a couple months back and took my time finishing the last details and just got it running today. There's a yellow light glowing up through a little window in the cooktop. Seems to be on all the time, even when the stove's off. Seems the stove draws 150 mA all the...

    Lake Powell September Cruise

I don't know if anyone is still watching this thread, but my Sunday noon arrival plan for Wahweap could slip a day to Monday, depending on what I run into with a little housing matter to check on in Boulder City on the way. Not a big deal. I'll wander up toward Oak Canyon and poke around...

    New 22'

marvin4239 wrote: One thing I discovered that sort of ticked me off was the factory placement of the 120v electric panel. It's directly behind the helm seat and virtually in assessible. The one 110 v outline is next to it and with this location it's impossible to plug anything in it...

    Lake Powell September Cruise

I sort of remember from years past on houseboat trips that we'd beach the bow of the houseboat or ski boat and use a shovel to bury an anchor in the sand, then run a couple of lines off each stern corner up to the beach and tie them to something buried as well. Is this about what you guys do...

    Harmonic resonance from outboard

I've had a ringing sound (or squeal as some others have said) at one particular narrow RPM range on my kicker. Yesterday, in the driveway, while working around the back of the boat, I noticed the kicker prop will ring like a bell if I whack it with a fingernail. The ringing sounds like the same...

    10/12 - 10/14 - Santa Barbara Seafood Festival

Halibut sounds great. Can we bring something to help? Where's the after cruise dinner? A park near the harbor? Someone's home? Jeff

    CD22' 90hp or 2 40hp motors for fuel efficiency?

flagold, That's a good number at around 20 mph. Congratulations. How do you set up the boat? Trim tabs up, down. Weight back, forward. Motor trimmed up, down. Do the side window frames look sort of level with the horizon, or is the bow riding more of an up angle? I haven't begun to play with...

    CD22' 90hp or 2 40hp motors for fuel efficiency?

I've only tested it a little at WOT. I got 31 mph (27 knots) GPS on fairly smooth water with no wind or current. I forget the RPM, but I want to say something like 5300. Mine has the stock Honda 13.5 x 15 three blade. The boat was light that day. Only 29 hours so far. No good mileage testing...

    CD22' 90hp or 2 40hp motors for fuel efficiency?

My combination is a VTEC 90 and Hi-Thrust 9.9 (make sure you don't get the High Thurst 9.9 or your economy will suffer) (just kidding). Anyway, both engines are electric start and power tilt/trim. I have a standard Honda twin throttle quadrant, but two small separate starter key pads. (The...

    CD22' 90hp or 2 40hp motors for fuel efficiency?

Regarding: "I confess I love watching a boat with "twin screws" dock. I admire them for their manueverability." from C-Gypsy I see you have a 90 and a 9.9. I've run my 90 and 9.9 at the same time and the boat maneuvers just like the twin engine boats I've watched at the harbor. Spins in it's...

    CD22' 90hp or 2 40hp motors for fuel efficiency?

5 mpg would be great mileage for a boat if you're talking about some kind of cruising speed and not just barely moving along. It would be the total fuel for both 40 hp motors together. It would also be statute miles instead of nautical, and it would be at the "good mileage cruise speed"...

    Long, narrow beam inflatable

No, I meant the shipping charge looked like 30 Euros, for shipping to the US. I was aware of the Euro to dollar conversion rate. I do see, however, how the sentence I wrote could be read as you read it. Pretty funny.... Jeff

    Long, narrow beam inflatable

On their website I can't find any mention of US dealers. I didn't study the one I saw closely, but it impressed me as being very well built on casual inspection. Considering the prices, I'd probably lean toward the Soar and add an engine mount from time to time. I believe I'll travel up north...
