    R25 engine choices

Ok, so refraining from running the engine at a constant lower RPM range by periodically increasing the throttle per Bob's suggestion is really to manage carbon deposits. Correct? Has anyone thought about additional fuel capacity? I know Mac brought along an extra 5 gal bottle on his Alaska...

Dick, Might be worth a try to post something over here: http://yanmarhelp.com/ Tim

    R25 engine choices

As always, thanks all! My comments from Mac's last post: "From what I understand, the 75, 90 and 110 are the same engine. The 75 is naturally asperated, the 90 is turbo charged and the 110 is turbo charged and intercooled." re:the 75 is turbo charged. "We ran at the recommended 80% power...

    R25 usage costs

PP, Hey there. Search is over - we put a deposit on an R25 with an April '08 delivery. Regarding a possible rudder zinc. Where would you mount it? thanks, Tim

    R25 engine choices

Hi All, I almost hitched onto Mac's dingy thread with this, but decided it would be best to start a new one. I'm wondering what the differences in fuel economy and performance characteristics would be on the R25 with the 75 yanmar compared to the 110. An r25 with the 75 hasn't been built, so...

Just an fyi - the factory is putting 3 zincs on new boats - one on the prop and each trim tab. Tim

R25 with no trailer - issues?

What would the issues be in having an R25 and not owning a trailer? My plan would be to get covered moorage in Puget Sound and haul it twice a year for maintenance. I'm wondering how accomodating the various marinas might be in helping me haul it and dry moor it for the maint work. As always...

    R25 usage costs

Hey Penguin, Thanks for that tidbit. Adding the zincs brings the totals to about 6150/annual or ~515/mon.

    R25 usage costs

First of all, thanks for all the valuable input from everyone. This is very important stuff to know before going into something like this. Let's see annualized: moorage - 3000 (250x12) insurance - 850 1 haul outs - 200 fuel cost 1600 (maybe about 100 hours on the engine)...

    R25 usage costs

Trinity/Sarge, Thanks for the info. Ok, so my estimate seems a little high. I still like it because it give me the cushion of dealing with unplanned things and maybe a little bit for accessories and such that I might not have budgeted for. Do you know what the current wait is for an R25...

    R25 usage costs

Howdy All, I am once again in the active mode of looking around for a boat. My last boat was a 16' c-dory cruiser that my wife and I used for a few years before a kid and other life stuff took over. We are finally getting things in order to start boating again. So, I'm of the mind to get...

    Downriggers on a 16 Cruiser?

I remember Mark Toland recommended getting the short booms for downriggers on a 16'er. I think the ones I put on were 20" scotty's. The shorter booms are a safety factor where problems could arise should a ball get hung up. I did lose some, but never experienced anything more than a small...

    Thanks to the factory guys...

Jim, Sorry. If I get there again soon, I'll try to get some more pics for you. At least your boat is on order, not to mention your practically immediate retirement! We are still deciding what to order. Realistically, we are looking forward to next season (and probably no earlier than mid...

    Thanks to the factory guys...

Jim, I was at the factory on Saturday and saw lots of boats. There was 1 blue 25'er that was almost done. It looked like it was getting pretty loaded. Engines were not yet installed. Anyway, they all looked fantastic. You're gonna love your new boat!

    From 16' to 22'?

Excellent reply Dave, thanks for the info. Your situation seems to be pretty close to mine. How do you compare the 22' vs the 16' boats in various sea conditions? Thanks again, Tim

Roadrunner advertises a drop axle and low ride height for all their trailers. See link here: http://www.roadrunnerltd.com/tandem.html. So, I'm wondering if anybody can comment on the height of their boats on one of these trailers. I figure if I can add no more than 28" or so, I'll be ok...

    From 16' to 22'?

Hi All, Here's the situation: Many years ago (10+) we had a 16' cruiser. Loved the boat. When it was just my wife and I it worked great. We camped, cruised, fished, gunked, etc... As long as we kept out of big water, we never had a problem. Once or twice, we put it at it's limits (us more...

All, Thanks for info. I talked to Scott over at C-Dory (via email). I have a little dialog going back in forth with him right now. Eventually, I need to get over to the factory and take some measurements. Does anybody know of a trailer manufacturer that makes a nice drop axle trailer that...
