    new battery switch

What a nice job! Looks great. One thing that impresses me is that you don't have a bunch of wires directly attached to the battery posts (or the switch lugs for that matter). I presume you are using buses.

    Stem cell therapy

Having some knee problems myself, I've wondered if the "doctors", who administer these stem cell treatments, add any steroids to the complex solution of chemicals and organic material they inject. The steroids, if present, could explain the short-term benefits.

    Battery charging

Bob, Interesting. I just took a look at these Blue Seas P12 chargers. I am no full blown charger expert, but I have studied up on this stuff a fair bit. Frankly, I don't think this charger changes the fundamentals of this discussion. As far as I can tell, Blue Seas has introduced a clever...

    Battery charging

Now I'm really taking a risk  . I'm going to disagree with both Barry and Bob! Barry.....Your comment "diodes do not drop voltage, resistors do" is misleading. An ideal diode would not drop voltage as your comment indicates, but of course there is no such thing as an ideal...

    Battery charging

It would not be unusual for your charger to charge just the house battery leaving the engine alternators to charge the start batteries. However, there is no way to know how your boat operates without you tracing the wires to see the paths the electricity can take. If I were you, I would draw a...

    Wallas cooktop/heater

I'm in the diesel, forced air, ducted heater camp. I am also in the $20 butane, movable cook stove camp. Which together gives you back a lot of useable counter space. However, I would add a wrinkle. The cheap butane stoves do a great job of cooking IMO; but if you have to boil a lot of water...

    Looking for a steering wheel

You also might consider replacing the steering wheel's hub with one of the gorgeous, hand-made beauties that C-Brat David McKibben makes in his wood shop (assuming he still offers those). Here's a link to see his handy work: http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_ ... _album.php

    Ballast

Hahahahahahahaha..... You are absolutely correct! I was thinking "water" and "ground".....didn't think about "air"....which is, of course, also part of the system too. :D :D .....I love it!

    Ballast

With the exception of turbulent waters (such as the many "narrows" in the islands of BC, Canada), currents affect all objects in the water exactly the same. A huge freighter and a small stick floating the the water both have their progress over the ground changed by the exact same distance and...

    Winter bilge area

I feel spoiled here in the Pacific NW  :) . It can get cold here....even down into the low teens occasionally, but never for more than a few days (with some notable exceptions). All I do is put a 1500 watt green house heater (with an integral blower) on the sole inside the boat, open...

    Ballast

As NORO LIM indicated, you may be misleading yourself. Indeed the boat is going to follow a different course over the ground depending on what the currents might be doing; however, the boat itself knows nothing of this. All it knows is the water it is travelling thru. The boat will operate...

    Ice coolers

You're right! Sorry about that. You prefaced the part I quoted with: The thought "...I get a week of ice..." just popped into my head. I replied without thinking . Mea Culpa.

    Ice coolers

My $600 120 quart Yeti does.....if properly managed. It transformed how we cruise. There are Chinese knock-offs for the Yeti too, at half the price, and I'd bet they do pretty well too. BTW, these heavy duty coolers make a great seat in the cockpit since they are virtually indestructible. P.S...

    Honda 135 outboard on a 25'

Totally agree. Here's my experience with the 200 Yamaha on my CD25 cruiser moderately loaded on flat-ish or light chop water: I'm well on plane at 3600 RPM and achieve a speed of 20 MPH getting my best on-plane gas mileage of ~3.3 MPG. My favorite position is at 4200 RPM achieving a speed of...

    Honda 135 outboard on a 25'

When I replaced my 2005 vintage Honda 150 with the 2014 Yamaha 200, the new engine only weighed 5 pounds more than the old one. P.S. Earlier I stated that 4 adults on board is a heavily loaded boat by definition. Having thought about it some more, I retract that statement. Since most boats...

    Honda 135 outboard on a 25'

I agree with VanIslander; you may be putting stress on that 135. It's all going to depend on your prop pitch. If the pitch is high (perhaps 16", 17", more?), then, yes, the boat may hit 29 MPH, but the engine is straining (as evidenced by 5000 RPM at WOT). Frankly, I can't believe your CD25...
