I've always run them on the outside. One time I forgot to insert it, while fishing noticed water, what a dumbass, spare at home. Used a carrot to fill hole, good enough to keep fishing and get 2 salmon. From then on a spare (or 2) in the toolbox. Has been handy for friends in need.

Bob, I must respectfully disagree. This wannabe has been watching C-Dory prices very closely. There is a definite down trend, "deal of the year" is now a monthly occurrence. Many sweet 22's for under $30K now, and a few under $20-22K. People are selling their boats, despite the GREAT value...

I would think, especially in today's market, most dealers would love the chance to compete for your business.

Gary, you hit it on the head for us fishermen. The "stepped" transom that allows access to the back of the boat on either side of the engine would be better, otherwise the back 2' of the boat are pretty much wasted space.

For fishing needs, it's less the noise/vibration and more concern about cockpit size. Always prefer a way to be right up against the transom.

Cool boat, a 22 Angler with the overhang from a 22 Cruiser. Sweet looking boat. Too bad I need to wait a while!! Yet another "deal of the year" for this wannabe. Very tempting. The link doesn't work, but if you check the Seattle Craig's list, this boat and a 16' show up.

Interesting, on that Nissan site the 4-6 HP are 12.8" wide, a little thinner than the 14" 2.5 HP.

Went out of Hopedale/ Brenton Sound with Barry (below). An outstanding guide, really hustled (see below, description of our day in Jan 08. I'm the Bob from Calif). Be warned, the area is still quite devastated and dumpy. Trash everywhere, and endless palates of oysters on the side of the road...
