    Cabin condensation

Thanks, I was doubtfull but curious, I saw some thin insulation materials in an older post I may look into that. I know metal framed windows are a nightmare for condensation the housing industry battled that for years until the plastic/synthetic window frames came out. I had a hard time trying...

    Cabin condensation

In the construction industry we used to hear the painters talk of "vapor barrior paint" which eliminated the need of a visqueen vapor barrior on the exterior walls prior to putting in the FG insulation, would this/has anyone tried this to reduce cabin condensation on uninsulated C Dory cabins?

Steering with twin engines: Differential Throttle Control

On every forum of every type I have been on in the last 20+ years, there is always a number of folks who grow weary of repeat questions and openly express their level of boredom to one degree or another, as always to each their own, it is best not to take any of it personally, and this post is...

    Lighting for night transit

many of the work boats 30-45 footers used to run at night in good weather when I was in the fleet, most tried to buddy up for an extra measure of safety, this was in order to get from Seattle to AK quicker, not a lot of difference than some of the many calm pea soup fog days in that part of the...

    Catastrophic failure of Honda BF150

Sorry to hear of your problems, whether it makes a difference in what I buy or whether I re-power before heading north after buying is something I will look into very carefully in the future, depending on many factors, I hope you find a reasonable solution to your situation, my best wishes to...

If you do not ask how much how do you know what to make out the check for?

How much boat is too much for someone new to boating?

I would personally go with the 25 cruiser myself for a trip thru the inland passage to SE AK. I have made that trip and back several times in 30+ foot boats and like the extra length and cabin space the 25 offers, I plan on buying one of these myself in the future for use in SE AK. Good luck...

Choice of kicker size for a 22' Cruiser?

That is what I was thinking any gain by trying to get around certain set things is likely to be small at best. You just cannot get around or beat the law of physics, hull area, weight, power requirements and on and on.... :)

Choice of kicker size for a 22' Cruiser?

About how many GPH would a 9.9 kicker use when running a 22. cdory at displacement speed? just wondering if under the right conditions the kicker might be a more efficient way to cruise at hull speed over the main power source. :?:

    Secondary Steering Station

Thanks for the posts, I will be alone nearly all the time for 4 months so the secondary helm is somethng I consider a pretty good feature for my situation as planned at this point in time. I have a lot of time before getting a boat but want to use the time to try and be as prepared and have as...

    Secondary Steering Station

Has anyone installed an additional steering station outside at the rear of the pilothouse? Just the bare basics, steering, throttle, shifter. I have done this before, the first boat I used only had a hand tiller in the fishing cockpit. I added a small wheel, fathometer, throttle and shifter...

    reverse chines pro/con

I would also like to thank all for the typically fast and helpful experience based posts. I think for my plans/need a standard 25' cruiser will ne best, there is only a few inches of actual more length with the 26' Venture I do not care for more speed at the low or top end, would rather put...

    reverse chines pro/con

Good post, that is the comparison and specs I was hoping to see, thanx much, that helped a lot in helping me get a mental grasp of the two boats and their differences/similarities, both would be good boats for my needs but I am pretty much set on the longer hull for SE AK and the trip back and...

    reverse chines pro/con

I meant no offense toward the Venture boats, I may even end up with one as I have seen/ heard no real deal breaking cons about them. just curious how much what must be a fairly small extra "v" at the stearn and other hull changes would impact the handling/ride, compared to the standard boats I...

    Bluebacks-16' back-up power.

Over the 7 years I trolled SE AK and ran back and forth each way from Seattle to Ketch, I lost power twice..... got the engine going both times ( fuel filter issues) but it was a bit worrysome for a spell, particularly when it pooped out south east of point Baker with the rocks getting closer on...

    reverse chines pro/con

Yeah, the specs show only a couple of inches more draft on the Venture so the V hull cannot be that much deeper, just curious if there was a noticeable difference in handling in rougher seas. Just something else to think about as I have lots of time to think before I buy and launch, I don't...

    reverse chines pro/con

I know what reverse chines are and what they look like on a glass hull, my question is what are the pro/cons on a semi dory type hull. I suspect this will mostly be an opinion driven thing, and sea/ weather conditions playing strongly into the equation, I am pondering whether the 26' Venture is...

Insurance, CD 25 in Florida RECOMMENDATIONS?

    Compass required?

I am probably considered old school as long as it has been since I did any serious boat traveling but I would want a magnetic compass that had been installed and swung by a professional......not even sure I would use a chart plotter, probably just pull out the paper charts, parralell rules, and...
